Setting clock on Intellipap

Post by El Pap » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:25 am

Does anyone know how to set the internal clock on the Intellipap Auto? Looking at the reports generated from the SmartLink software, it seems like the time is off (slow) by about 5 - 10 minutes.

Did you ever figure this out El Pap? I'm starting to use the data module tonight, but I have no idea what time the machine thinks it is.

No, I never did find out. I think you'll find the clock in your module is reasonably close to the correct time. I still notice that the time I arise as reported by the machine is about five minutes off, but that may be because the machine reports the last time the machine wrote data to SmartLink memory, not the time I turned off the machine.

One other oddity: I believe the module keeps track of the time in GMT, and the timezone adjustment is applied by the software. This has the odd effect of viewing all of your data from the perspective of the current time zone, i.e., we are now in daylight saving time, which works great for viewing nights that were recorded when daylight saving time was active. But if I look at data from a few months ago, it appears that I went to sleep and got up and hour later than I actually did.

I am sure it does. As a programmer I can tell you the time logic has been the bane of my job. When you have to write software that is used all over the world you must store it in GMT otherwise things will be sure to blow up. My last project allowed people from all over North America to book appoints on a web site with others who were all over north America to meet by telephone in a 3rd location with a 24 hr buffer time.

The beauty of storing all time in GMT (or UTC ) is that when you move all that needs to be done is to change your location timezone to make the time appear right.
Of course your old data looks wrong but that is the fault of bad programming design.

There is no internal clock in the CPAP. The clock is on the SmartLink. The time is set at the factory and adjusted by the SmartLink software for time zone based on local settings. There is no way to change the SmartLink clock at this time.
