leaky reservoir

Post by Michele1234 » Mon May 18, 2009 8:38 am

I have a Remstar Plus W/Humidifier my reservoir leaks badly. Is there a cheap way I can glue or seal it together? I was thinking maybe super glue.

The metal reservoir tank bottom has a built-in seal. Gluing it would probably be a disaster. Is the reservoir tank cracked? I did manage to crack mine once. I just ordered a new reservoir tank from cpap.com and all was right with the world.

no it's not cracked at all. I checked it thoroughly and checked to see if the metal plate was bent and it's fine also. I can't figure it out. I thought maybe silicone sealant would work.

I'd be real cautious about putting anything on there. All of that stuff has fumes that off-gas as they cure. You have to ask yourself, "What's in here and do I want to breathe it all night?".

How old is it? The early chambers were famous for leaking. If it has a green latch and a teal colored "O" ring seal it is the old model. The newer one have a large black latch and a large black seal. If you have one of the early models get a new one. sometimes you can push the "O" ring towards the ends and get it to seal some. Rub the seal with a bit of water before you close it to let it slide and not pull it out of place. Mine leaked so much it finally destroyed the top of my dresser and shorted something out in my heating unit. The newer chambers are not quite as prone to leaking but will do so sometimes.
