So a few weeks ago I posted that I thought my cpap was making me sick.... I changed the little foam filter at the back and by the next day I was better! I have crazy bad allergies and live with two cats that didn't bother me before cpap. My meds had controlled the allergies well enough. Now that I am pumping air up my nose its not so good... So here I am stuck without any filters.... I called and ordered them on the 5th and when i checked today I got, "yeah, I haven't been doing so good with the ordering... we are short staffed, but I have your order and will try and get it out soon." Are you kidding me???
I rodered my own damn filters for a crazy rediculous price.... I ordered 6 months worth since my company can only order me two at a time.
How many of you have this allergy problem and how often should you really change your filters?? I am getting answers such as "when they deteriorate like a sponge" from on here somewhere.... and "every 6 months" from my rep. to "we'll send you two per month " from the company that will "try and send them soon".
or am I having another problem alltogether?? I slept about an hour today because of this and now have to go and work all night!!! Taking the mask off until I get the filters seems the best course of action but I can not fall asleep without it!!!
Thanks..... (sorry I am a little grumpy today...)

Anywhere from once a month to once every couple of weeks during allergy season.

Have you cnsidered adding an air purifier to your bed room? Sort of to pre - filter your air?

I have two running in the bedroom..... but the window is open cause I hate to turn on the ac when its only 55-75 outside. This problem flared up a bit yesterday and as of right now I have taken the max dose of allergy meds, the max dose of benadryl on top of that and am still running like a faucet. oddly enough, just one side though. I am litterally dripping into a bucket.... not worth wasting the tissues. Stuffing a rolled up tissue in my nose worked for ten whole minutes.... then dripped through. Hard to believe that a little measly filter that looks like nothing is on it, can cause such a fuss.

You might try using the neti pot for relief. Tho it might not be a "solution", it's helped a lotta folks with relief from the congestion.
You can search the forum for info on how to use it.

My machine has two filters. The gray foam one is washable and is supposed to be washed every week. I have a spare one so I can always have a dry one. The white one is disosable and is for people with allergies. I don't know exactly how long you can leave it in. I've seen to change it every two weeks, every 18 days or even when it looks dirty. I think conditions would really vary.
