I have been titrated to 13. When I set my APAP MIN/MAX pressures, does it make any sense to go more than +/- 2 - 3 cms? I figure 10-16 might be optimum. I would like to hear other peoples experiences with diff. pressures (esp. those who download and analyze the results)
Thanks
Bruce

Prescribed pressure of 13 from a sleep study, and using an autopap....
The 10 - 16 you're thinking about sounds good.
11 - 16 sounds even better to me.
If you have the Encore Viewer software and card reader, you can get a good look at whatever range or ranges you try out.
The minimum pressure is going to be the most important one to set "right", imho.
Here's why I feel so strongly about "minimum" pressure's importance:

WHICH APAP are you using? (not all APAPs or their algorithms are created equal)blomasky wrote:I have been titrated to 13. Do you have software to download and analyze your results? (it's an absolute MUST when using an APAP)
Much of it depends on the different types of events we experience during our sleep (architecture). Leaks and snores can drive an APAP berserk. Most APAP machines won't respond to sudden ("frank") apneas. They look for flow limitations or snores as precursors to increase the pressure.
From a personal perspective, I'm one of those who does better with single pressure (CPAP mode). After a year of CPAP therapy, I bought my first Auto to gain some knowledge about them, satisfy my curiosity and have a backup machine. I found that the pressure changes seemed to disturb my sleep. It also confirmed that I was able to choose the correct CPAP pressure with my first machine, the REMstar Pro 2 (by using software)......my doctor had my prescription pressure much too high. I also had higher AHI numbers using a range of pressures because of the time it takes to respond to events.

of COURSE, I have the software... being ANAL, I have a Remstar auto Aflex M-series and a Resmed Auto (whatchamacllit) .. Auto II
Download the data each day... have AI < 2 and sometimes have Hyponeas to < 3-4
