Whoa!!! That is bad!

When my brother was heavier, he used to sleep sitting up in bed with his legs crossed indian style. He snored so loud and so heavily, his body would move. I can't believe he could sleep that way. He didn't kno why he slept sitting up. My thought is he REALLY couldn't breath and it was involuntary for him. He doesn't do it anymore, but he still snores. He believes sleep apnea is an over-diagnosed condition for doctors to make more money.

Oh my gosh - I originally had severe sleep apnea with 99 apnea and hypopneas per hour of sleep. Like everyone else, I didn't know I had it. I'm a woman, I couldn't have looked that awful in an apnea - could I? Well, I didn't have a beard.

sure come on over and join the papcap club
Well, I've ordered one...I think I will like it a lot better than the white CPAP.com Deluxe Chinstrap I've been using. I wake up at night with sore squished ears...ouch...it'll be nice to have "ear relief"

BTW, I guess I should just watch what ever you buy because the next thing I know, I own the same thing...I even had the same oximeter but haven't managed to upload the data to my computer yet because I can't get my computer to recognize that I have plugged the USB cord in yet.

Yes, it is very hard to watch him sucking for air and getting none. Worse is another video of a child with OSA who was able to get cured with a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. I can't watch that child, but thankfully, it has a happy ending.

Anyone who has kids should be made to watch that video!

On another note, I just showed it to a co-worker who says he has that, but says hs brain will always wake him, that it will not kill him and he doesn't want 'the mask thingy'. I asked him if he thinks his brain will wake him after 4 or 5 beers and he said 'yes' I explained that people do die, they call it 'natural causes', heart attacks, strokes, falling asleep at the wheel, depression and suicide, and God knows what else. He's an idiot. The physical symptoms and depression and loss of focus made me seek help, and oddly, even though it cured my snoring which woke my wife every night, she still thinks 'I'm obsessed' and don't really need anything, maybe a little more sleep! The whole thing annoys her and is the subject of ridicule. Maybe I should let my life insurance lapse and see if she changes. Maybe that's another subject for another thread! Or not.

Thank God there are people like the woman who took the video of Tony who are intelligent enough and caring enough to take a video so they can get some help for their loved ones

thanks kenny, the papcap is working out the last 3 nights i've had 0.00 leaks and 0.0 AIs just 3 or 4 for the HIs.
Only downside is the chin strap has to be so tight it leaves sore marks under my chin and sometime makes my jaw ache a bit in the morning. I might look into making some padding for the under the chin part.
Sweet, man! I've only had 1 or 2 nights with 0.0 AIs. It's usually around 0.4 or 0.5. My HIs are usually around 3. I'm thinking of bumping up my minimum pressure just a tad, from 13 to 13.2 or 13.4 to see if I can eliminate a few more events.

As far as any chinstrap, I think it's going to have to be tight enough to do its job, meaning you will probably get marks. Making a pad for the strap isn't a bad idea though. I've found sort of a sweet spot for the tension so that it does its job without making my jaw sore. I have to say, any soreness I do get from the PapCAP is WAY less than the other chinstrap I had, which pulled my jaw up and back, instead of just up.
Sleep well and live better!
