Health Insurance and Sleep Apnea

Post by swcompassionate » Wed May 06, 2009 2:50 pm

Hi All,

I am going to be laid off effective June 1, 2009 and in case Cobra is too expensive which I am thinking it is going to be, has anyone living in Michigan had any luck with getting a private policy with sleep apnea being considered a prexisting condition? If you know of any health insurance companies in Michigan I would really appreciate knowing about them.

Thanks,

Maria

Good luck.

I know at the beginning of the school year when we did all of our paperwork (I teach) I signed up for AFLAC and was turned down due to the sleep apnea. I thought they took everyone but apparently not.

It might be cheaper just to buy your equipment on your own, You can get some really great deals on Craigslist.

Check with the state of Michigan and see if they have a high risk pool. Most states do and you can't be turned down. It isn't the best insurance, but its insurance.

Don't know if this helps, but I found this for you to check out.
