Forgot my humidifier (M-series)

Post by gbuskirk » Wed May 06, 2009 3:07 pm

A month or so ago, I traveled with my CPAP for the first time. Preparing for bed, I discovered that I had forgotten the humidifier tank. I ended up with a miserable night trying to sleep without it, and kept the kids awake as well. I guess I'm dependent on the machine now. Is there a way, if I ever do this again, to reconfigure the M-series to run it without the humidifier attachment?

The humidifier is optional. Just remove the HH casing from the machine and attach the hose.

When the M-series is inserted into the integrated HH, a plastic adapter from the outlet of the M-1 is removed (the corresponding piece is built into the HH). So in your case when you forgot the tank, you could have taken out the M1. However, unless you were lucky to have to have carried the plastic adapter with you you would not have been able to connect the outlet tube.

If you travel often, you may want to tape that plastic adapter to the side of the machine/HH, so that if that happens again you can use it without the HH. Since the water has to be emptied before you travel with it, it is all too easy to forget the tank

BTW, if you travel with water in the tank, it very easy for the water to leak and get into the machine, and there are incidents reported here in this forum of M1 machines permanently damaged from such leaks!!

Thanks for the responses. There was no way just to attach the hose to the blower unit (M-1). I don't think I have that plastic adapter that feeling_better speaks of, unless it is removed from the M-1 and installed on the outlet side of the HH. Is this so? Does anyone know how I could get said adapter?

[I think I just found the adapter here. I'll order one.]

The adapter is not used when using the HH. You may have the adapter in your collection somewhere, if you are a pack rat like

My RT had put it in my travel case....saying that in case I should travel without my humidifier or something. Of course, I took a different travel case when I went on my recent trip....though I didn't forget the tank, because I didn't need to empty it in the morning when I was packing to leave for trip. I had let it run dry when I switched to using the HC150 at home.

But now I run without the M-Series humidifier attached....this has eliminated the noise that was coming from that part....

Dreamer.....

All you need to do...is leave the removable water tank at home.....and not have the little adapter piece....and you're set for a miserable night. I did exactly that......and boy was that dumb!.

I won't make that mistake again. I spent the only night in 2-1/2 years without my machine. Awful.
