Where do you get updates for Encore Pro?

Post by Ender519 » Wed May 06, 2009 9:35 pm

I received Encore Pro 1.8i and card reader, purchased online from a CPAP retailer.. I believe it's the latest version.. but I was curious. Since Respironics doesn't seem to like end users having Encore Pro, how do I go about getting updates for the program? There isn't really any info in any of the packaging I received, and it looks like you have to be a provider and sign up for my.respironics.com in order to get updates now. There is a link referenced several times for updates but it's dead now. EP appears to be working but as I'll be trying Windows 7 shortly and I just like to have the latest and greatest version of the software I got curious.

Does anyone have any service packs or updates for version 1.8? Does anyone know where to get them?

No such thing as updates. You get the program when and where you can. If you run a DME provider or Sleep lab or Sleep Doctor ect, you might be allowed to sign in on the web site, but we a meer humans, and customers are prevented from doing that. After all we have no need to make our treatment better and aren't smart enough to install or run the program. Jim

Yeah I've noticed that Respironics seems very much intent on keeping as much information away from the hands of the end user as possible. I assume the same is true of any firmware updates available for the CPAP machines themselves.

So I think I have Encore Pro 1.8.0.49 and it's a legitimate copy, the CD looks pressed and professional, and since it was from a CPAP supply website and not eBay I'm confident that I've got the real software, but I've seen some people stating their version is 1.8.0.65. Is there any benefit to having the newer version?

I'm a guy that likes to tweak things, so I love having the latest and greatest. Kind of sucks that even owners of EP are prevented from getting any updates for it, it's not like I'm asking them to support me.

A few copies of Encore Pro 1.8i.065 got out before Respirionics withdrew sales from end users. Now restricted to Doctors and DME's. I have checked with a few people who had 1.8i.065 and from what I have been able to understand the only difference in .049 and .065 is that there is a color shift in Vista and .065 is supposed to fix that. According to Respirionics neither is rated to work woth Vista 64, only Vista 32 at best and maybe. Some FEW have reported that they have gotten .049 and .065 to work on Vista 64 but it seems to be very complicated. Having to download and install several files from Microsoft and then a few have gotten it to run and then had it quit a short time later.

All I have is the Encore Viewer, as I was not able to get the Pro-so what am I missing by not having the Pro? I did my first reading yesterday and printed out the findings- and it seemed to be pretty thorough-I did not get a graph, but do I really need that? Thanks,

All you ar missing is James Skinners Pro Analyzer. It does not work with Encore Viewer. Encore Pro and Viewer give the same data but then you don't have to deal with the cranky SQL data base in Pro. Look here and click on sample charts.

So, if I do not want a graph interpretation, then I am ok-I really can't see where that will give me that much more. I am not being deliberately obtuse -but it just doesn't seem to be that necessary. Please tell me if and how it is a key portion of keeping my records. Thanks- I am still learning, so I welcome the chance to know. As I said, Thursday was the first time I read my card.

To keep your Encoreviewer reports on your computer you need to install a pdf program. The one I use is http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp First download and install the Free converter program, then download and install the Free download program. The CutePDF Writer works like a printer with your programs only it creates a PDF file of your data that you can keep in any folder you want on your computer.

The most valuable graphs for me in Encore Pro Analyzer are the "AHI, AI and HI versus Pressure" and the "Time in Apnea" graphs. They enable me to adjust my m-Series APAP to the optimum pressure range, which for me is a narrow band around 9 cm. "Time in Apnea" does not display with Encore Pro.
