morphy, thanks for your kind words.
I've never posted a comparison of Silverlining vs Encore Pro. I do like the Silverlining software better than Encore Pro, but that's just my personal preference. I like either one of those better than ResMed's Autoscan software.
I just like the way Silverlining displays the data. I particularly like the 96 hour graph. Given a usual 8 hour sleep session, that graph can show 12 nights of detailed information, with all those sessions shown side by side on the graph - just scroll left or right to keep comparing the nights. The other machines (Spirit and Remstar) that I used had to be downloaded at least once every five days to be sure you wouldn't lose a night of "detailed" information. Even if you normally slept more than 8 hours a night, you could still wait a full week between downloads of the 420E and still get to see all the detailed info on the Silverlining 96 hour graph.
I also like being able to download straight from the machine instead of having to use an expensive (unless you get the "sliding" one from 2factors.com ) extra -- the card reader Encore Pro requires to read the "smart" card. The Silverlining software was easy to install - no extras to have to mess around with in getting the software up and running.
I never minded carrying the lightweight little 420E to the computer desk each morning. After reading loonlvr's neat idea of using double sided phone jack connectors, I'll be using a long phone cord extension in the future to do the downloads. Won't have to mess with unplugging the power cord or moving the good little 420E at all.
