Question on travel and distilled water
Question on travel and distilled water
We are planning a trip to Disney in September. We will be staying on site with no car. Since we are flying there, I can't bring along the water for the humidifier. So, how do I get water? Maybe it will be so humid I won't need it. Any suggestions? Also, traveled for the first time with the CPAP last week and stayed in motel. Went pretty well except the top of the nightstand was slick and I was concerned that I would turn over during the night and pull the machine onto the floor. At home I use a piece of that spongy-type of shelf lining on top of my dresser to set the CPAP on. It won't slide off. Next time, I will take it with me. Anyway, has anyone had an experience with going to Disney and needing water?
Re: Question on travel and distilled water
Disney is pretty darn good. Call ahead and tell them that you need a gallon of distilled water and I am sure that they will have it waiting for you at check-in or they will tell you how to "obtain it easily" on site (you will probably pay a premium for it but--you'll have it.) If you find that you don't need it for your humidifier, you can always drink it.
Enjoy your trip.
Enjoy your trip.

Disney will be awesome! but erm....I really wouldn't advise drinking the distilled water ....its too pure and may give you the squits if you aint used to it! Thunder Mountain could take on a whole new meaning!
Im sure you'll be fine tho, Enjoy!

Re: Question on travel and distilled water
There are two reasons for using the distilled water: one is that you do not want to breath in any harmful bacteria; the other is that salt residue does not build up in humidifier tank. For a few days you can get away with using just bottled or boiled water --- normally both would have salt in it, although there is one brand of bottled water advertised as salt free, cant remember which one. I am not sure even that is free of all minerals or just sodium chloride.
When you get back home, just wash the humidifier container to get rid of any small quantities of minerals that might have got built up in it. These minerals do not get into the hose, since it is the evaporated salt free water that is coming in mixed with the air. I very much doubt if you would be able to even see any salt build up at all in a week or so.

If worse comes to worse, there is a Walmart Supercenter located just outside of Disney to the east. You can take a cab from your hotel, visit Walmart, and buy a gallon of distilled water. You could do that the first evening that you are there. There are also convenience stores and supermarkets located on the highway that runs east and west past Disney.

Bottled drinking will work fine.
