CPAP Pillows

Post by angelo » Wed Apr 29, 2009 5:27 pm

Hello,

I have been using my CPAP for about 6 weeks and am really struggling with high leak numbers. I use a Mirage Quatro Full Face mask (I am often a mouth breather, so it is a must). Last night I noticed in reviewing my numbers that there was a break in the leaking where it was in the normal range for about an hour. I am guessing that during this time I was on my back. I have always been a side or stomach sleeper primarily. I want to know if anyone has had success using the Pillows that prevent the mask from being dislodged or generally help with side sleeping? I have been getting pretty frustrated with the whole process and I know these leaks are hurting the effectiveness of the treatment and I am not experiencing an improvement in how I feel. I have some of the side effects (bloating, congestion, headaches) but not the benefits. I have adjusted the straps often and sealed the elbow with plumbers tape. Based on those times when the leak is ok, I really believe it is a body positioning issue.

Any insights would be appreciated!

When I first got my machine, I bought a SleePillow that has a wierd shape, meant to help with the hoses and the mask and I LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E it! Well worth the money!

What do you mean by sleaing the elbow? I am using a full face mask as well (mouth breather) and have been plagued with massive leaks! (frustrating)

If you take Teflon tape you can wrap it around the grooves in the elbow (where the nozzle connects to the tube). This can prevent leaks in that area which are common in Mirage masks.
