I get a little over 6 hrs. per night, usually closer to 5, but I have been pulling my mask off in my sleep the last couple of weeks, frustrating!!
Last night, only had the mask on for 3hrs., according to the data. The 3 nights before that, right at 6 hrs.

I've used it every night so far, although on a few nights removed the mask during sleep.

After just a few night using it, despite the ongoing discomforts, there was a increase in awareness of breathing difficulties that makes the idea of sleeping without it daunting.
Started CPAP on 7/1/2005

A full 10 hours last night.

I'd been burning my candle at both ends this week; not going to bed until 11 or 11:30 and getting up at 5:30 with my son. I guess it finally caught up with me.

Actually last night was another late night; I didn't close my eyes until 12:30. I know that is bad sleep hygiene. I woke up at 7:30 all on my own and lay there a few minutes grumbling about waking up "so early" on the first day I could sleep in that I've had in weeks. Next thing I knew it was 10:30 and I felt great!

Tomorrow will be early, then I'll be away on another business trip in the afternoon. I'll be going to bed in good time every night while away because there is nothing better to do by myself in a hotel in a distant city.

BTW, my AHI was under 5 with a snore index of less than 1!

As someone else (txkajun?) says: this therapy works!

I have been on CPAP since January 24, 2005. Since using my Activa, I use my machine each and every night struggling with the hose as I toss and turn.

Well, for all those worried beginners:
Every night, every nap, once I got used to it. Which means: After the first 2 weeks when: the pressure was wrong, the masks were wrong, and I took them off in the middle of the night.
A week after I started with the Breeze I was instructed to take a 2-3 night break to let my nostrils heal -

And since then:

Every night, every nap.

As for rewriting the book: We a group of motivated enough to look for info on the net, helped and supported by this forum and motivated enough to to keep in touch with this forum. It stands to reason we'll have the highest compliance.

We should probably write the book in the role of support and what a tremendous amount of it we found on the net.

O.

When I started in Nov 2003 I could do maybe 2 hrs. Slowly but surely went longer and longer. Took about 6mos to go 6-8hrs, Think the Full Face mask was the problem. They are not fun! Now it feels like part of me and I rarely notice it .But of course it helps that I switched to a Auto and other mask(s) which I rotate.

I have been on XPAP therapy since June 3, 2005. The first 2 days I was able to sleep with it for 3 hours and by the 4th night I was able to keep it on all night. I don't feel any real relief yet so I am having another titration study Sept 2. Even so...I keep at it everytime I lay down to sleep (including naps) because I know too much about the damage it causes if I don't use it! As of today, my machine registers an average daily usage of 8.45 hours.

My start date was June 7th 2005, total time used at this point is 704 hours. So I am averaging over 8 hours a day compliance. Wouldn't think of sleeping without it.

I'd call that 100% compliance...

I have used xPAP all night (8.5 hours), every night, with one exception. Once, on the way home from the in-laws (2 hours away) I slept in the passenger seat of the car -no xPAP. Otherwise, I've been a good boy since October '04.

I've used my cpap at least 8 hours a night every night since I brought it home last November of 04. When I take naps during the day, I almost always put it on too. I can't help you if you don't use it!

Based on my whole 5 nights of cpap history (other than my titration), I am averaging 5 hours and 52 minutes per night. Other than taking the mask off for adjustment or trips to the bathroom, I have been 100% compliant in that time.....but not without some severe temptation to leave it off!

FMichael4, I know what you mean. After 3 (or is it 4?) weeks of essentially 100% compliance there was a night this week on my latest business trip when I was tempted to tear the thing off and throw it across the room.

For some reason the mask was bothering me, the straps were bothering me, my face and nose were itchy and I just couldn't stand it anymore!!!

Eventually I turned off the machine, washed my face (again), took a Benedryl and spent almost an hour calming down enough to go back to bed.

I did sleep the rest of the night with the mask on, but for a while I could sympathize with every one who's ever complained about having to wear the @#$% things we do!

Hey! I experienced that very thing last night, Bill. I was constantly awakening and actually took the mask off and turned the machine off several times but then I'd wake up because my husband was snoring so loud I had to put the mask back on just so I could drown out his snoring! Last night was a 6-hour ordeal and I tell you....I am really feeling lousy today.
