OT Kokopelli- the gift of life

Post by carbonman » Sun Apr 19, 2009 5:30 pm

Kokopelli-deity of fertility, the trickster, the spirit of music, just some of his talents.
Also, the flute player, to bring the Spring and the rain.....
the gifts of life.
Kokopelli blessed us w/his magic the past three day.
At my house, 8" of heavy wet snow and then 1" of rain.
2K' above where I live, 3' of snow.
An entire winters water in 3 days.
In the next week, after months of drought, everything will come to life.

I did my April ride up Lookout Mt. today.
I added Golden to Hwy 72 on the return.
45miles 2:50' 3.3K' vertical
Absolutely gorgeous day. Very typical of Colorado spring,
blizzard for a few days then, sunshine.

The Mt. Evans Massive. L-R Rosalie Pk., Epaulet Mt., Mt. Evans.
No bike riding up there for awhile.

Thank you sooooooooo much for the beautiful pictures, the last time I saw snow, one of my friends, filled a cooler and brought me and my pre-K kids enough snowballs and we had a great snowball fight on the playground.

Excellent post young man. Thoroughly inspiring.

What's that "M" on Lookout Mountain?

Maybe carbonMan left his mark?

So that's what mountains look like. Beautiful indeed and thought provoking. I think I'd like the ride downhill rather than up. I'll have to post the beautiful, ha ha, only if you are a grain farmer, landscape of E. Central IL.

Blessings

R, thank you! How can one not be inspired by the power and beauty of nature.

The "M" is for the School of Mines, college of mining in Golden, at the foot of Lookout.

Isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder????
Take them from your bike...... everything looks better when you're on your bike.

Carbonman,
Absolutely beautiful! Back in 1970 there was a small campground on the edge of Golden. My brother and his wife and a friend of mine and I camped there for a few days. We drove to the top of Lookout Mt. one night and the view was just amazing. Too much beauty to put in words, you just have to see it.

Fred,

You might be surprised. When I was 12 years old, the principal of our elementary school took me to his service club lunch one day. The county farm agent gave a talk and had a 35 mm slide show of crops around the county. I was so impressed with the beauty of the farms and the excellent photography that it inspired me to become an amateur photographer.

I was very fortunate to grow up without video games, PCs, cell phones, texting, tweeting, DVRs, DVDs, IPods, the internet, GPSs, ....... I love technology but has the human spirit made any progress?

Regards,
Rooster
