Hypops only??????

Post by caffeine please » Sat Apr 18, 2009 10:31 am

Anyone out there with only hypopneas? My index is 16 so I qualified for a machine. I think having only hypops has lead for a long time to me having denial about needing the machine

I've had a few nights here and there with hypops only, but those nights are exceptions to the norm for me.

If a person has enough events of any kind, if it lowers the blood oxygen, they need this therapy.

I'm not quite hypopneas ONLY......but on average, I probably only have about a half-dozen recorded apneas in any given month since starting therapy.....so, I'm probably pretty close. I also don't have very many hypopneas per night either......which tells me my therapy is working well.
In my case, I think some nasal surgery (turbinate and septum) would help a great deal, but I'm not so sure I want to go that route as I'm doing pretty well with "my little bed buddy".

In my sleep study, my AHI was about 46.

My sleep lab results showed 17 hypops per hour with no apneas, and my sleep doc made me get the machine. Since getting the machine, I run about 1 apnea/1 hypop per hour. Obviously I need to be on it.

Thank-you you guys. Your feedback helps. I don't know what I would do without this forum. No one can really know what someone else feels unless you have been there
