My name is Kevin Dean and I am an Account Exec with American Homepatient.
I live and work in Arkansas and was wondering about the rules for sales on the forum?
Signatures ok?
I would like to be a resource in whatever way possible...
Can someone tell me where to look?
Thanks
Hello
Re: Hello
Welcome!
Any time we can gain knowledge, we welcome the opportunity.
If you would put your affiliation into a signature, that would be fine, and it is nice to know who we are talking to, but generally there is no commercial selling on the boards. You CAN, however, sell things on CPAPauction.com as far as I know. I do not speak officially for our hosts at CPAP.com, but I think common sense and etiquette have served pretty well so far. Please look around and get a feel for things and if you have questions, give a holler. I have a feeling that there is much for you to learn here as well.

Re: Hello
The input from patients alone is invaluable to me as a salesperson.
I will look around. Thanks.

Re: Hello
Kevin,
Thanks for being upfront about your purpose here, and for registering.
This is site is intended for sharing information to assit new and struggling CPAP users and related content. It is sponsored by an online CPAP equipment sales company, CPAP.com. In the user agreement it says that it is prohibited to:
distribute or post, email or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or pyramid schemes;
If you want to sell anything on this forum it seems like your first step would be to contact our hosts and get their permission to do so. A pm to forumadministrator or johnnygoodman should put you in touch with them.
IMHO, it would be discourteous and unethical at the least to proceed further without their consent.

Re: Hello
I don't know what the official rules are, but I see people list things, mostly used, for sale frequently here. In fact, there is some pillow up for sale at the moment.
There are also at least 3 people (besides cpap.com) who post here and have things to sell. Some of their supporters regularly sing their praises, which is sort of a way of getting sales, I think. Sometimes what I see is a request for volunteers to test drive a product. This always generates discussion about the new product, which is another way of getting sales.
In any event, I would recommend the conservative approach--look at the posting rules, and then if it isn't clear, ask the host as someone suggested. It is really not up to regular board members to decide how you can mention items for sale, but why offend them?
Oh, and welcome. Maybe you bring some knowledge as well as products to the table. If not, welcome anyway.
