CPAP/APAP
CPAP/APAP
Kopoloff has been thinking.
I've been watching this forum for a few months now, and it seems a good portion of the posts are about people being given fixed pressure machines rather than autos, and non data capable machines rather than smart ones. And there seems to be a continual tension between the wishes of the users, the prescribers, and the machine providers. Seems to me that the major problem is in fact that there are some snouts in troughs.
We are a lobby group; I heard a mention of 40,000 of us suckers just on this forum. Do we have any clout? I bet we do, and there must be a few hundred thousand more out there that we haven't connected with yet.
What would happen if we put a proposition to one manufacturer, say Resmed ( I choose them because they're Australian, therefore ethical, moral and beyond reproach in everything they do, and of course they put their customer's welfare well before grubby notions of shareholder benefit and executive remuneration. snicker) that should they only offer auto machines then they could probably grab a significantly larger market share, perhaps until the other manufacturers wake up. We know that resmed machines are essentially all the same, the different features are simply in software, so the manufacturing cost difference would be minimal and the revenue loss would probably be offset by the increased sales.
I'd be interested in your thoughts
K
PS
Can you a imagine a mass uprising, thousands of bald, overweight, grey haired CPAPers (apologies to those who don't fit the stereotype) picketing Resmed's factory in Sydney, resplendent in their masks, hoses flying behind them, mouths covered in blue tape, chinstraps wobbling, brightly covered papcaps, red white and blue strap covers, carrying their batteries, UPS's and generators. Best not be behind them, the gas might be a challenge

I'm not bald, but I'm in!!
Re: CPAP/APAP
I would fight you in this effort. The consumer should have choices and manufacturers should be able to offer what they want to offer. I have a CPAP that I use for traveling and I want to keep the option of buying another CPAP in the future.kopoloff wrote: ......that they only offer auto machines ........
Now Koppy, if you want 40,000 people to go on an education spree about the benefits of self-titrating at home with fully-data-capable machines, count me in. I have already started my part.

Kopoloff, did you not know that thinking gets you into all sorts of trouble?
Of course, I have been thinking, too....

Well our man Koppy is clearly going to make this fun... and I'm fairly apolitical whenever it's convenient.rooster wrote: I would fight you in this effort....

Re: CPAP/APAP
As long as we are talking options, I think we should also propose that they add oximeters into the blower units such that we can at our option connect a finger oximeter measuring device to our "smart" OSA treatment systems.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Re: CPAP/APAP
If your plan is to picket Resmed at Bella Vista you gotta have rocks (not North Rocks - just rocks) in your head.
Standing in the new 'Old Windsor Road' near Northwest Boulevard with that infamous traffic is a sure way to wipe out your movement before it has passed it's 1st motion (actually, that may be the 1st & last action of each protester). Again I question what part of Oz youse lives in. Locals just know better

xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)
Re: CPAP/APAP
I "ain't a gonna" stand in no traffic like DSM described for not auto PAP picketing - HOWEVER, you might be able to entice to picket for ONLY fully data capable xPAPs regardless straight CPAP, APAP, VPAP or whatever.

I'm with Slinky, and to a lesser extent Rooster - love a good protest, for whatever reason. Don't want APAP, although of course an APAP machine will still do me.by Slinky on Sun Apr 12, 2009 3:04 pm

I tried auto, and hated it. It kept reading my requirements as being too low, and I woke feeling really lousy. So I decided not to waste the extra funds on one (it was all out of my pocket). I feel much better on straight CPAP, (whether it's psychological or not), so have stuck with that. But fully data capable for all machines, I'm all for that.
