Out of the Loop...any word on Somnotech Gel Mask???

Post by Guest » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:36 pm

Hello all...

Back in September I read comments about Weinmann making a gel nasal mask for the Somnotech or Soyala...did it ever happen and what was the outcome. Where can I buy it? Please tell all!!!

I called somnotech and they said it was shipping in october to the US. They said call your favorite cpap retailer....and ask them to call somnotech for availability.

I've had the gel cushion for a couple of months. Over here the Soyala is called the Joyce. I've struggled with CPAP in a big way since I started over a year ago but I do like the gel seal.

Update: Oops. I now see your post was about the nasal mask. Sorry.

Apria has ordered the Joyce ff mask for me. I love that the headgear crisscrosses in the back and you don't have a strap across your neck. This seems like it will be more comfortable. I also had her order the gel pads at the same time so I can try both and see which works better. I love the Flexifit 431 but unfortunately it leaks at the chin no matter what size I get so I'm hoping without the chin part this Joyce mask will be the one. I'll let everyone know when I get it and try it out how it does. Boy I wish someone would finally come up with a comfortable ff mask. I have tried mostly all of them and have yet to find the perfect one. They are just so big and bulky and if they are smaller like the Zzz, they hurt because you have to have them on so tight. The search goes on

Does anyone know where it can be purchased on line in the US and what name it goes by? I currently use the Soyala Nasal (orginal model with older headgear.) Recently it has been leaking etc. I would like to try the gel seal.

Is APRIA a U.S. company only or are they also in Europe?? The reason I ask is that I want to order this mask and I spoke with CPAP.com and they told me it was not being FDA Approved. I was really bummed. I would love to know where I can get one!!!!

I'm waiting for Apria to see if it can be ordered for me. Not too hopeful at this point. Will report back as to what they say re: ordering it for me.

Apria called and they are unable to order the Joyce mask for me. Boo!!!!!!!!! The headgear looked so comfy with the criss cross in the back. I'm really bummed and still searching for a comfortable ff mask. I have the Soyala ordered, thats the next one I'll try. Meanwhile I just use my trusty Flexifit 405 and tape my yap shut.
