two weeks at this with stuffy nose

Post by doitinmysleep » Wed Apr 08, 2009 4:45 am

Hello all,
I have been at it for almost two weeks with my c-pap and feel really great!!But the stuffy nose really bugs me most of the next day after using the c-pap. Nasal masks make more of a stuffy nose? Any one have this effect that has got around it? Tried many different setting on humidifire unit with c-pap and none seems to help.

Have you tried turning off the humidifier? I have the same problem if it is on no matter how low of a setting. Turned out if I just use it as passover, I have no problems what-so-ever. I also use a nasal saline rinse every couple of days and between those 2 things, no more problems.

Good luck,
Brooke

Many people experience stuffy nose with xpap at first, but the problem seems to diminish after two weeks or so. With luck, you may find yourself adjusting after a few more nights even if you make no further changes -- and if the problem suddenly fades, you can't confidently assume success is the result of your latest experiment. Glad you're feeling better and I hope the stuffiness subsides.

Try a solution of this mixture for an end to stuffy nose problem:

1 teaspoon SEA SALT
1/2 teaspoon BAKING SODA
disolve in 1 cup boiling water.

when cooled take and put solution in a small water bottle with a sip top.

Lean over sink squeeze the solution into one side of nostral, holding your head sideways so the solution drains out other side.
Then do other side. you may have a water drainage for about 10 or 15 minutes after, but your stuffy nose will dissapear!!!

I do the nasal flush thing, but it doesn't really help me with stuffiness. I do think however that it helps in terms of colds and allergies which would contribute to transitory stuffiness. stuffy is why I love my full face mask.
