One pillow hurts one spot in one nare

Post by talktobon » Thu Apr 09, 2009 6:08 am

So I've been using the Liberty for 9 nights now, and have a sore spot in my right nostril just along my septum. I haven't tried any gels or lansinoh because I'm afraid I'll be allergic to it, and wanted to make sure I wasn't allergic to the mask first. (I am but that's a different story.) Anyway, I don't think this is a rawness issue that everyone is talking about it. It just hurts when I have the pillow in--like a soreness maybe like others have on the bridge of the nose with a standard FFM. I have a deviated septum and that is the side that hurts. Therefore, I'm not sure if the gel, etc. would work.

The majority of the pain goes away within 10 minutes of me taking the mask off. Should I try one of the products, and if so, which one is best? Are there any other comfort techniques I can try for this? Not sure if there's any room in the nare for cushions or something, and could just make things worse.

I'm using the small pillows--does Liberty make xs?

What position(s) are you sleeping in?

Lanolin cream should be fine as it is hypoallergenic. I'm giving away some 1 and 2CC samples of some (Medela brand) lanolin cream that I have here (breast pump/supplies are one of the things I sell).

If you're interested, just drop me a PM with your address and I'll send it along!

I get that to sometimes with my Swift LT. I think sometimes that spot just gets sore. Repositioning the nasal pillows seems to allow the pain to alleviate after a few minutes.

Chris--I sent you a PM.

I sleep on both sides. Does that make a difference?
