Traveling every weekend with CPAP
We have a seasonal sight at a campground near us, and starting next weekend, we will be going there avery weekend until October. I was just looking for any tips hauling my CPAP Machine back an forth. I have a nice bag that came with it, but is there anything else I need to know? Bring on the warm weather!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Always dry out the humidifier completely before you pack up to travel. If water gets in the blower it is really bad!

Fortunately, the humidifier on the S8 separates completely from the blower, and packs in a separate "slot" in the travel bag, but still dry it out as much as possible. I'd use the "cleaning lid" to travel with..... Keep some distilled water at the summer place....builta wrote:Hi,

Re: Traveling every weekend with CPAP
Wow, what a great thing to have an every weekend getaway.
First thing that comes to mind is that I can't imagine going through the trouble of packing up all the "stuff" for my cpap every Thursday to then set up at camp, and then packing it all up again on Sunday to set up again at home! I am not lazy. But I have never regretted getting a backup machine (now two of them, for reasons beyond this thread). If you have optimized your therapy and been consistent with good results using stable settings on a particular type and setup, I really recommend that you consider just purchasing a machine with minimal bells & whistles to be your permanent camp setup, together with extra mask & supplies that just stay put at camp. That way, it's all there and all at home, without need to pack & unpack.
If an extra machine is not affordable, then I would at least suggest having a travel pack set up with all the other stuff (extra mask, pillow or cushion, distilled water, hose management if you use it, etc.) to quickly throw in the car, or to remain at camp full time. This will help avoid the inevitable "forgetting something vital" when you leave for camp every weekend.

Re: Traveling every weekend with CPAP
FWIW, I travel most every weekend to our country getaway. I haven't yet purchased a second xpap to leave at my country home, but I did lighten the load by leaving a mask and hose there. It's only the xpap that I move back and forth. This doesn't lighten the load very much but it does mean that there are two fewer items that one might forget to pack!
I'm workin' on it.
