Encore Pro Analyzer problem

Post by Bearcat42 » Tue Apr 07, 2009 10:55 am

Does anyone know if Encore Analyzer Pro has problems running on a 32 bit Windows Vista OS? I keep getting an error message that says "setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application".

Oh yeah. Surf here for "Vista+Encore Pro" and you'll find lots of chat about it.

Check out the PDF file I PM-ed you "Encore Pro on Vista Installation Instructions". That might help, too.

This is for 64 bit, but it MIGHT help, heck, I dunno... I'm just trying to help.

How to Run Encore Pro Under Vista 64 bit:
viewtopic/t40234/How-to-run-EP-under-Vi ... ution.html
If you have SQL previously installed, remove it.Reboot PC to ensure is gone.

copy all directories and files from CD to disk drive.
go to directory called /files/SQL 2005
delete SQLEXPR32.exe

go to : http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/deta ... laylang=en scroll down and download file SQLEXPR.EXE with size 55.4 MB (both version in this file 32 and 64 bits.
Copy downloaded file into /files/SQL 2005 and change name to SQLEXPR32.exe

Run installation.

Choose under installation advanced.
You have tick two boxes, database and program.

You are ready to go.

Good luck!
B.

Crap, I'm an idiot. You're talking about ANALYZER... Please disregard my above post. My headache is making my marbles jumble up and roll around.

Sorry,

Toatally understandable. Dont worry about it. I got EP to run in 32 bit with absolutely no problems. WooHoo! But the analyzer does not want to open.

James Skinner is still an active member of this board. If you surf around, you can find him and PM him.

Good luck!

I haven't done it myself, but other posts here say that you should right click on the Encore Pro Analyzer icon and "run in administrator mode".

Well, I finally got the EPA to run. It wound up being a matter of setting the permissions to the correct setting to allow the .exe file to open up.

Well, you're clearly smarter than me. Mind if I add you to my tip sheet?

And when/if I get brave enough to morph over to the new Vista 32 laptop I got for Xmas, I'm calling YOU!

LOL,
B.

I had problems getting a complete file on download from Jame's site. I got the same errors as you until I got the full file. Then it ran smoothly. Works great.

This is directly from a link on Skinner's Website for downloading the program:

"EPA on Vista

Some users have been having troubles with getting EPA to work on Vista with Encore Pro 1.8i. The problem appears to do with authentication to the SQL database. For now the work around is as follows:

1. Right click on the icon for EPA (not the shortcut but the actual program)
2. Goto the Compatibility tab
3. Under Privilege level, check 'Run this program as an administrator'
"

I'm KIDDING!!!! Seriously, I couldn't even find the extra card in the incredible mess I'm living in right now. I'm one of those "before" houses. Where's my Clutter Busters to come clean my house????
