Activa LT mask and leakage

Post by capers » Tue Apr 07, 2009 1:50 am

During a two month rental period and after trying several masks, I found that a large Activa mask was best for me except that it still had air leaks around the eyes and the 4 setting ratchet device was not easy to manipulate while wearing the mask probably because I have peripheral neuropathy and lack of feeling in my fingers. Leakage rates were usually about 0.02 L/s.

At the end of the rental period, I ordered an large Activa LT mask but because of the incompetence of the DME supplier's saleswoman who made other mistakes as well, I was provided with a medium Activa LT in error. She assured me over the phone that this would make no difference and that it was a good fit. I do admit that I don't have any air-leaks around the eyes and don't feel any air-leaks at all yet the machine usually shows a leakage of about 0.4 to 0.5 L/s.

Does this sound normal for an Activa LT?
Machine: Resmed Platinum II Autoscore (probably equivalent to Elite II)
Humidifier: H4i
Mask: Activa LT mask

The difference between an Activa LT large and the medium is the shape of the nose bridge. If you had eye leaks with the large then the medium would be indicated. You may be leaking form somewhere else. Give it a few more nights and see if it is a trend. If you have trouble adjusting that dial thing, try using the old Activa frame. I like it better.
