Hi all,
I am sort of new here. I joined a while back, posted a little bit, but stopped for a while. I am back now and hope to be more active in the group.
I have used 2 CPAP machines over the last 5+ years. My first was a Respironics Remaster Pro CFLEX. It was set to one pressure setting and that was it. I constantly had problems with the mask breaking where the head gear attached to the mask. It is a ball and socket design and the ball constantly caused the socket part to chip away and would no longer hold. A very poor design. I contacted Respironics about it and they refused to redesign it. So I switched to a better machine. I now have a Res Med Autoset Vantage. It is a variable pressure machine. When it first starts it is at 8 and ramps up to what ever I need as I sleep, up to a max. of 18. I also have the humidifier for the ResMed, but only use it in the winter time when it is drier. I don't need it in the summer, especially with my new direct vent heating/cooling system in my home. I will keep the Respironics as a back up machine in case I need it. The mask I use with the ResMed is the Ultra Mirage II. It is a simple silicon mask that has yet to break where it connects to the head gear.

Hi, I think you are very optimistic in thinking the company would re-design a mask for you , but I guess it was worth a try. Respironics masks are known for being flimsy, but their machines are great, and Resmed's just the opposite in both instances, and of course other companies make machines and masks too.
