Good advice above

There is some pretty good advice above.

One of the keys to weight loss and control is the strict management of carbohydrates.

Here's a true story. I lost wt from 230 to ~190 using the Zone Diet by Dr. Sears. (This was about 10 yrs ago.) What I like about the Zone diet is that it's scientifically based, and most folks find that they are more energetic and less hungry.

A year ago, a workmate and friend of mine asked me for advice as she was diagnosed with severe diabetes type II. She was morbidly obese, and I suggested the Zone, and she lost (and I'm not making this up) over 50 pounds in about 3 months, and lost another 20 in the subsequent 3 months. She is assiduous about her diet, and her daily glucosimeter readings are normal.

As I understand it, many of the current store-bought diets also now follow the Zone (Craig, Nutrisystems, etc.) I have some other friends who have done quite well on these.

One other thing, some folks take nutritional information as a near-religion. Not me, I say whatever works for you is just great.

Okay, one other thing. If you try ANY diet, and you are not seeing results, try eliminating all (ALL, including low and nonfat) dairy. Dairy has a surprising amount of calories, fat, and some hormones that plump you right up.

Give the Zone a try, and go dairy-free if you want to be buying skinnier clothes in a month or two.

I don't know if we can do urls, but if one were to google zonediet or barry sears, you might be where you want to go.

Good luck losing weight, whatever course you take.
