buying a machine on craigs list

Post by Linda1904 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 7:01 pm

should I be concerned about whether a person selling a machine actually owns the machine or how he or she acquired the machine. for instance: stolen, renting from a DME, etc.

In my opinion, CPAP machines arent 'hot commodities' for stealing and resale. I would certainly inquire
about hours of usage and age of equiptment, make sure its not on a recall list too. Was fortunate with
my purchase through a fellow forum member.

I was about to answer one ad when I found the town it was in had a population of 1052 with 73 registered sex
offenders and an average house value of $23,000. I got scared that that almost new auto cpap with 200 hours on
it might be too good a deal at $200 .....

You should ALWAYS be alert for scams on CL, ALWAYS.

You can get a good deal if you know what you are doing but what I see most are people trying to unload non-data machines and some seem like DME's trying to sell at Insurance prices.

So Buyer Beware.

Yes--buyer beware!!! From what I have seen on CL--they are selling machines for way more that they cost so they are trying to make money on them when Insurance prolly paid for them in the first place. So watch your prices!!! AND make sure the machine has not been recalled or is out of date----some ads are just the grand parents may have died and they have no idea what kind of machine they have.
