dog ate my smart card
dog ate my smart card
Hi
My very bad puppy just chewed up my encore pro smartcard (actually my fault for letting it fall on the floor) and I am wondering best way to get a new one. Are these covered by insurance or is this typically an out of pocket expense and who has best prices?
thanks much

Order a couple from https://www.cpap.com/, and a 25 pound bag of puppy chow. As far and INS paying for it, how much insurance does the puppy have. All puppies should have accident insurance. Jim

Re: dog ate my smart card
I just got my 2nd one - my PC ate my 1st SmartCard. Do you think they offer PC insurance?
As for where to get it - not from my DME! That'd be a $150 trouble-shooting call and then $50 replacement, instead of approximately $12.50 on cpap.com.

PS Yeah, yeah - buyer beware. For some reason, after the first $2.5k from me and $1k from my insurance company, I thought there'd be some minimal level of service included. Now, my DME tells / sends me anything, first thing I ask is how much it's going to cost me and/or my insurance company...

At least your dog did not eat your hose!
Re: dog ate my smart card
Hope you can get a new card, but how is your puppy from eating plastic did you call your vet.

Does your puppy appear any smarter? My Dalmatian ate the plastic tiles off the walls in his room, the floor tile and part of the sub floor, all the doors off the kitchen cabinets, and the Tupperware. It all came out on the back yard, look for your card it might work, maybe he solved the lost data problem. Jim

My doctor says I'm stuck with the machine for the long haul. I wont even get a smart card for 2 more years to look at numbers I cant do anything about. The only interface I want with CPAP, is to climb into at night and slip it off in the morning. I have no interest in the "experience"

thanks for the replies - always enjoy a good laugh in the morning!
Guess I phrased things incorrectly - technically she chewed the card but nothing was ingested.
Linus - she chewed on the hose last week. I'll order another spare when I order the card. She's lucky she is so cute (and that she hasn't got a hold of my mask).

On a similar topic I had a customer in the office the other day and when he gave me his credit card I noticed teeth prints all over and asked if his dog tried to eat it. He told me yes and that "that was the card that survived". Apparently his lab had taken his whole wallet and took it outside to chew up. Credit cards and Driver's license were strewn over his yard and a couple of neighbors! Some of it was never found and his neighbor brought him his mangled VISA.
Makes me glad that I just have chihuahua's!

And then there's untrained store clerks, at the hardware store last year one put my credit card into the printer slot. It took 30 minutes to get it out. Unharmed. Oh, I bet my 4 month golden beats out yours for "bad puppy of the year". What a little monster. She gets into everything and now she's tall enough to put her paws on the table, so a whole new world of destruction just opened up for her. Now I know why puppies are so cute - it keeps owners from killing them.Guest wrote:Hi

Awwww, that is sooo cute!!! Ya gotta love the puppies though. Mine did pull my hose and machine to the floor and got a good scolding, so now I have to close my bedroom door whenever i leave the house. They make up for it with their unconditional love though, everyone needs a little of that....

My mini schnauzer tries to eat the air that comes out of the exhust port so he's now in his own bed. My old PWD ate 67 out of 90 prozac pills after cracking a new script open a few years ago. Found out too late to pump her stomach and in spite of a full clinic of vets, she survived after 3 days of paralyzing behavior.
