Bill congrats to you & you are there to be photographed with him. Funny for me that I wasn't anywhere near as excited when my 1st grandchild was born. I was just telling Mady that - I was living outside the country at the time & was up to my eyeballs in a massive regional project.
In hindsight I can only say be there. I guess I have made up a bit by doing all the videos of them all.
So he is now just under 4 months old. Does he live nearby ?

Congrats, Doug! That's some milestone! We are grandparents of a 4 yo. We MIGHT make it to "great" status, but, to be honest, we never thought we'd be grands! Our son is pushing 40...
Lovely pics of the family. Give our best to the new parents.

Doug! A hearty congratulations to you all the way from Texas! I loved the pictures and can't wait to see little Ryland.
I love to see big families.

Congratulations to you too, BillBolton. That's a good looking grandbaby you're holding. You folks down under sure do know how to produce good looking families!!

Still no photos & I am not pushing for them. Seems Mady is still in hospital - her blood loss was greather than they had thought so they kept her in. She & Ryland are fine despite this. She did pass out when she got up that 1st day. Had a big group of friends drop by last night.
It may be another day or 2 before I can line up any pics.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear Mady has required a little more hospital time than expected, Doug. I hope she regains her strength quickly and I'm sure she will bounce back even more quickly once she can get up and around out in a little fresh air and home in familiar, comfortable surroundings. We'll be waiting for those pics.

Mady stayed in hosp until the next day - turned out ok after some rest.
Ryland doing very well - 1st visit this morning from Wanganui district nurse who was delighted to announce he was already putting on weight (excellent sign).
Below are the pics taken just after his birth including his 1st nap. Still too new & too tiny to see anything different from other new bubs. But as always a delight to see our new family - so very new - & with so much potential. Am confident he has good parents. He belongs to Gen-R (Recession generation).

PS Thanks for putting up with one very very proud great granddad. But, I may post an update in july when I get a hands on test of the new addition

Tks - yep we are so durned lucky to be given these incredible little gifts by our progeny. Funny that this round seems so much more magical that the last round (I put it down to the absolute shock that my kids turned me from a dad to a granddad, but being a great granddad seems utterly magical ??? - still ruminating on why this seems so ).

Boy 8lb 3oz - lots of black hair - all went very well - baby was born at 08:00 this morning NZ time & mum off home in a couple of hrs (about 13:00).
Name allocated is Ryland (Mady says it is an English name. Only reason that matters is that she & her siblings all have exotic names Madhavi (Mady), Michiko (michi), Didier(Dee), Meeka (Meeka) & Jian-Claire(Janee) - Julie their mum was into that self was into dead straight names Julie-Anne, Paul Tere, Belinda Jane, Anne Marie & Philip Andrew) )

Congrats Doug
A strapping boy indeed! It's great that you can get over and see them!
