yesterday i read a thread titled "dreams", and i found i really have had nearly the same experiences with what has been described in that thread:viewtopic/t40290/Dreams.html
before xpap, i've been unable to remember any dreams for many yrs, and after treatment, i started to remember dreams, though just for a few nights.
i started to use respiratory machine about 3 weeks ago, i self-diagnosed and got a s8, the first 2 weeks i was walking totally blind, without knowing this forum and anything about tweaking my machine, so thanks a lot for a lot of the forum speakers here, who has given me valuable information about treating osas.
i used the automode setting 4-20 default, for 2 weeks, i've seen some improvements of my energy, my heart pressure seemed to be going down, but i stil felt very tired, in other words i learned in this forum: quite crappy!! later i found this forum, and found that many users narrowed their ranges in order to get better treatment, so i started tweaking my machine(without software, still flying blind but better guided), i first tweaked it to 10-16, and something wonderful happened, i started to remember dreams, things that i've lost for many yrs, and i woke up feeling much better than before, but after two night with clear dreams, i started to lose them again, though it was the same setting and the other factors unchanged, but i felt good, don't know why, wondering if something interrupted me during my sleep, pressure changes o my wife or even my pet??
and last night, i read that thread about dream, in which many talked about remember their dreams again, i thought the dreams must be related to good treatment, if the dreams disappear again, it means i've got to tweak my machine again, those are my thoughts, i don't know if they are right, i post it here just for in case, someone with knowledge of this area could explain this and give more information, great thanks!!
i did tweaked my machine and changed it to cpap mode, and increased pressure to 14cm(i've been on 12-15 for a week, feel rested but without any dream), and magically i dreamed again!!! it was such wonderful feeling, and i woke up feeling good( i didn't used the word excelent, because i felt cold my four members, high pressure lowred my heart rate too much, but why???)
so i wanna ask if remembering dreams is a good sign of better treatment and better sleep? and someon could explain why the osas patientes are usually deprived of dreams? i think there is some reason with it! thanks!!
I'm iricoboy from beijing, still flying blind, but guided by a good many people
P>S> it seems to me that the ahi figures registered on my machine don't have relations with how i feel, before i used autoset mode, 4-20, my ahi was always lower than 5, but i still felt tired, and now after i tweaked my setting, narrowing ranges, i've got higher ahi, around 6-8,and sometimes lower, but i felt much better than before, very confused, but i believe that i should trust more on my self than the figures, am i correct??

Dreams are good if you can remember them - just because they provide some depth to sleep. Makes you feel like you had a good sleep.
But, I don't believe it is a problem to not recall dreams. Foe me, it happens sometimes and not others. Some of it seems to do with
what I ate the night before (or drank).
Good luck & stay with it but I would recommend leaving Auto range to say 10-16 or perhaps 11-15.

thanks 马贾德,but why do u recommend i use auto range instead of cpap? is there any other reason than that my cpap pressure 14 is too high(could have caused centrals)? is there any interruption of sleep cyle with pressure changes?dsm wrote:iricoboy

Re: cpap and dreams
Before CPAP you may not have been getting into REM sleep every night, so no dreams to remember.
I suspect this was the case for me. My sleep was so disrupted that I wasn't dreaming every night.
I am aware of having more dreams now that I'm on CPAP.
