Hi,
First I wanted to let you all know how excited I am to find this forum. After 10 years of sleeping on the couch due to what I thought was just snoring, I was recently diagnosed with what the doctor said was pretty significant sleep apnea. I received my ResMed S8 Elite II about 6 weeks ago and although I struggled adjusting to it for about 3 weeks, it now has become routine and the results are actually truely amazing. I used to fall asleep anywhere anytime and take naps whenever I could. I have not fallen asleep or needed a nap now in several weeks.
The one thing I haven't liked is that I really was never given any detailed information about my condition, a couple of stats regarding number of apnea 'events' per hour and blood oxygen level, and then I was given a device and basically told to just use it. ResMed told me that they collect information from the machine periodically and that they would share this information with my doctor, but my doctor said the next time they wanted to see me was 2010 unless I had 'issues'.
Given this I have decided to learn what I can about what is going on. Thanks to this forum I now realize that I can get access to the information on my device and control it to some extent. I am using the ResMed S8 Elite II and was planning on purchasing the ResScan Version 3.7 Software. Is this what others are using or are there other options? Also, does anyone know how I can find out how to access the Clinician's Menu on this device?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the welcome and information.
Just one amendment to my original post. I did have a 30 day review with my sleep doctor. That consisted of a discussion with the technician regarding if I was having any difficulty with the machine or if my mask wasn't fitting and then another brief consultation with the doctor who gave me the brief stats I mentioned earlier and questions about if I was having issues and how was it working. After this initial discussion is when the doctor said I we wouldn't need to meet for another year.
As part of that visit I did mention that I wanted to try a nasal mask as well. I ended up getting a Swift LT nasal pillow system but I haven't been able to successfully use that yet. Exhaling is was so difficult that it was ineffective the one night I tried it. I switched back to the full face mask after only about 10 minutes. I tried it on full power though so I will give it another shot trying to ramp up the pressure over time.
