Travel to Singapore

Post by dynamite » Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:28 pm

I will be traveling next month to Singapore. Does anyone know what voltage is used there? Will I need an adapter? Is there something else I need that I don't know enough to even ask the right question? From reading old posts I know I should bring an extension cord, but does that work if the voltage is different? Any advice is welcome.

Hello Dynamite,

According to this website (http://treehouse.ofb.net/go/en/voltage/Singapore) you're looking at 230 Volts. Assuming you are coming from America (you forgot to mention that), you'll need an adapter. I was there last year, so the image on that site and voltage is correct. However, I only just started using a CPAP (I'm on my first week's trial run) so I cannot tell you about any experience with charging there.

I can tell you that power is good there, I had no problems charging my cell phone or laptop in the hotel.

Have fun! I was there for work but had a blast. I was especially impressed with the variety of food there.

I too have wondered about traveling abroad with CPAP ...as I may be making a trip to Nairobi Africa (from USA) later this year on mission. Anyone have advice?

I stayed in Norway a couple years back. I bought an all country adapter pack at the Apple Store. Good quality. There are several pieces in it for the various voltages and plug configurations. I bought another set, American Tourister, and one of the prongs bent right off the bat. Be sure to check out how the plugs are configured because if the prongs won't go in, it doesn't matter what the voltage is.

I been to singapore during end of 2008 and i forgot to bring my CPAP cable along. i found this pirvate firm in Singapore which specialise in CPAP Machine. i rented a cable from them at a very low rate for my 5 days stay in singapore. Any CPAP user traveling to singapore may want to contact this company if you face any CPAP problem there. Bremedi

I was in Kuala Lumpur a couple of months ago. Your machine should be able to handle the 220 and what I found over there is that most hotels have a multi outlet that will work with any country's plug configuration. It would still be a good idea to take an adapter but you probably won't need it.
