Miserable...help!

Post by jazzmynn » Thu Mar 19, 2009 11:28 am

H?i,
I feel like a pest, but I don't feel well at all. I have been on cpap for about a week. I changed from pillows to a nasal hard mask two days ago, but I feel very tired still.

I also found that I drool badly during the night, my tongue is coated white, and I have lots of drainage and I feel nauseated. Can sinus drainage cause nausea?

Can it interrupt good sleep when you are congested or drooling?

I wonder if I'm opening my mouth during the night.

My Dr. suggested that I get a full faced mask.

She gave me a vitamin b12 shot yesterday, but I am still tired.

Have you experienced this before or know anything about it? Please help.

I would think so, if you are swallowing enough of it (especially if it's infected). Since CPAP send pressure into your sinuses, it is possible that you are experiencing an inner ear imbalance which can cause nausea. That happened to me the first week but went away on its own.

Sure. Even without CPAP a congested nose or chest could cause interrupted sleep. Not sure about the drooling though.

If your mouth is dry... and I mean DRY... you most likely are mouth breathing. For me, it took training my tongue and a chinstrap to prevent that. In two months, my insurance pays for a new mask, so I'm going to try a full face mask too. Probably the Quattro. It may not be a bad idea for you. You can also check out the PAP-CAP which is a chinstrap that is made by "sleepguy" on here.

Good luck and don't give up. There will be days when you don't feel great, especially in the beginning as you are adjusting. Keep with it. We have a new formula here:

Persistence + Patience + Information = Progress
Sleep well and live better!
