aarghhh !!! they gave me a Vantage and not the Autoset
I was told no problem by the DME office, Dr. wrote on the prescription "Mary-Ellen specific request, etc" cpap.com retail of the Vantage $499, the Autoset $899. DME gets same reimbursement. I just picked it up on my way to a business class. I'm emailing the DME tonight reminding him of the prescription and letting him know I am bringing this back and if he can't (or won't) accomidate my request I will need t go elsewhere. My insurance covers a new mask and hoses EVERY month and it looks like he could be out of that sweet deal too. I'm a cash cow for him and want that machine they promised me. Really don't want to get a new script written but if I have to, I will
I am so bummed after thinking this was all set. I wasn't going to start using it until Friday but if I don't have the machine I want by then ...

Are Vantage machines still being sold ? - am assuming it is clearing old stock because the current machine is indeed the Autoset II.
The Vantage has the earlier EPR on it which is not nearly as good as the improved (Easy Breathe) EPR on the II models.
I hope you can get it sorted out ! - good luck

The Vantage and the Autoset are the same machine.......sometimes called the "Autoset Vantage"
The Autoset II (2) is a newer design and has "Easy-Breathe" technology.

Re: aarghhh !!! they gave me a Vantage and not the Autoset
The Vantage is still being sold at cpap.com. Now one more question - In everyone's experience, how important is it to have EPR available in APAP mode? It looks like the main difference between the 2 machines is that the Vantage only has it available in CPAP mode? (I am set up on APAP currently) I have the Vantage set up at 6-10. My titrated pressure is 10 but the RT thinks it will probably settle into the 8-9 area, based on what he has seen from the other titration results from the sleep clinic at the hospital I went to.
Maybe I am making too big of a deal out of this and I'm glad I have this forum to ask questions in.
Also, please correct me if I am wrong, but the Vantage is fully data capable if I purchase the software right?

I'd still want the new Autoset II model. The EPR is significantly enhanced.brucelegs wrote:The Vantage is still being sold at cpap.com. The Vantage is the older model & yes only runs EPR in cpap mode - I have one & that is how I use it. The EPR at setting of 3 works ok & I don't need the Auto part of the machine - give me EPR any day (but would much prefer EPR Easy Breathe).

My own preference would be for the older Vantage, which I am currently using, simply because it is supported by the older AutoScan software which can export detail data to Excel. The Autoset II requires use of ResScan software, which does not export minute-by-minute pressure, leak and event data. I don't look forward the day when I may have to "upgrade" to a newer machine, and lose this capability; I can only hope that ResMed will restore this functionality by then. Velbor

Good point - I used to use AutoScan but now use ResScan but must admit, have never tried to export the data to CSV format since going to ResScan.

Yes, the Vantage is data capable if you purchase the software. It also shows some data via the LCD screen.brucelegs wrote:

I had the Vantage for about a month for an "auto trial" after my titration. I haven't used the Autoset, but from what I've seen here, I would want the Autoset over the Vantage. The Vantage was not as quiet as the VPAP I have now, but it wasn't bothersome to me or my husband. It seems the Autoset also shows improvement on the EPR with the Easybreathe technology. If your pressure isn't too high and IF you have to pay for the machine out of pocket, the Vantage may be just fine for you! If you're getting this through insurance, I would definitely try to get the Autoset rather than the Vantage! What you pay out of pocket shouldn't be any different.

What a disappointment, Mary-Ellen.
Yeah, I'd dig my heels in and hold out for the S8 Autoset II which has EPR available in auto mode, and is reportedly quieter than the older Vantage.
Personally, with ResMed machines I wouldn't even bother to get software. I get all the info I need (AHI, AI, HI, leak, and 95% pressure used) just from the LCD window on the machine.

w00t as the kids say ... I go in tomorrow to exchange the Vantage for the AutoSet. I'll be sleeping like a baby (hosehead) this weekend - wish me luck! (just have to do some rearranging of the bedroom - I didn't have the one nightstand - it has been on hubby's side of the bed for 25 years, went out and bought myself a piece of furniture)
