Steve,

Interesting. Glad you can still calculate.

Dr. Steven Y. Park says it is common to find undiagnosed/untreated sleep apnea patients who are hard-driven athletes. He believes this is because the only time they are feeling good is when they are doing intensive exercise. (You probably know better that I do why that is.) So they have no problem putting in the hours because they know they will feel better when active than when sitting around.

Dr. Park suspects Michael Phelps has sleep apnea, not only because he is so hard-driven, but also because of his jaw structure. You may want to find Dr. Park's website for some good reading. He also has some good posts at sleepguide.com.

Regards,

Rooster

Hey Arkangel, don't stop the humor! An occasional break from the serious side of this therapy is therapy in itself, so keep it coming.

Rooster - LOL. But the crowing rooster is not me, he goes with my latest signature line about wanting to be an early riser. I was playing around last week drawing cartoon birds, and out of curiosity (and boredom) I wanted to see how animation works so I stuck my rooster in the wizard. Quickly found I have no career in this, but hey, it was fun. He'll be gone soon. I'm already about over wanting to get up early.
Kathy

P.S. Maybe I should have done a hen laying a golden egg, since I sure would like to come into big money.

Rooster - Thanks for your offer, but I'll keep my money and my sleep. You must have an endless rescource of funny rooster cartoons. By the way, I think the marketing firm that created the sleep med commercials with the rooster should win some kind of award. Their early teasers with nothing but a sleeper and a rooster leading up to "silence your rooster" were in my opinion award winning creative quality. (Not an endorsement of the med, just the advertising.)

Now I'm wondering how long a rooster would last if it had to crow every time a percentage of those million apneas caused arousals.

What, Rooster, you mean it's illegal for the barnyard hen to silence her rooster? I could have ended up in the big henhouse.

By the way, I grew up on a small farm, and we had one young rooster that was my pet. Since adult roosters don't like to share the barnyard, and we had two, my father chose a more aggressive rooster to "rule the roost", and my pick was sent the way of the dinner table. Turned out Dad's guy had all the hens running squawking away because he was so mean and rough. Dad finally had to send him to the the dinner table to protect the hens. I bet my guy would have been quite the romeo.

Kathy,

When I was five years old, my mother told me one afternoon that I was now tall enough to reach into the hen's nests in the chicken coop. She gave me instructions and the egg basket and added, "The hens are probably sitting on the nests, but just put your hand in and they will move and you can get the eggs."

A few minutes later I proudly returned with a basket full of eggs. I told mom, "This is all except one hen would not move so I couldn't get her eggs."

Mom said, "Go back and just push your hand under her and she will move."

A few minutes later I came back with no eggs and scratches all over my hand. Mom said, "Oh, I am so sorry, that hen must be setting on her eggs." Mom felt so bad and treated me very nicely the rest of the day.

Let's bump this up. A few of the newbies sound like they might have enough brain cells remaining to do some math.

I have a vision that we will figure out an easy way to ensure that children develop wide, deep, healthy and attractive jaws and then obstructive sleep apnea becomes an obscure bit of history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycw4uaX ... re=related
