Two questions from newbie

Post by pfann447 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 7:33 am

1. My eyes feel very strange in the morning -- teary and almost as if I've been crying. I have to keep wiping my eyes because they tear up and my vision is blurred with tears. This sensation lasts pretty much all day. Anyone else experience this? It's uncomfortable.
2. Any ideas on how to minimize the air blowing on my husband? He says it keeps him awake. I'm not planning to transfer poor sleeping from me to him!

Thanks for your help,
Pfann

1. Your tear ducts are connected to your sinus cavity ... some CPAP patients have reported eye issues with use of CPAP. Talk to an ENT or wait to see if your tear ducts adapt to the increased pressure.

2. Turn and sleep with your head away from your hub or put some kind of barrier between the two of you (like large pillows).

Could be a leak in the mask into the eyes, or if you have O2 it tends to dry wet areas.
I will beat this if I have to go down to 140 pounds with 6% bodyfat. I will beat it!

The Aeiomed Headrest mask vents toward the headboard. That feature makes is my favorite.

Thanks for your replies. My eyes aren't dry, they are actually tearing MORE. I didn't expect that.
Oh, and I am not on O2, just normal room air.

I am going to have to just tell my husband to tap me on the shoulder and tell me roll over; don't know how else to handle the air in his ear problem.

Pillow in the middle would also work...

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)

I already made that suggestion ... she wants to be rolled over.

Your eyes may be over-tearing in a protective response to being having been dried by plain air leaking at them from the mask. Try to make double sure you don't have air leaking into your eyes. And talk to an ophthalmologist.
