Need help- Encore Pro data, reports and numbers questions

Post by Victoria » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:20 pm

I've learned a lot from reading/ researching old posts, but I still have some questions regarding Encore Pro, the available data, and what it all means.....if there is a great link somewhere that I'm missing, if y'all don't mind pointing me in that direction......

I have the M Series Pro, the Smart Card and Card Reader, and the Encore Pro v.1.8.49 software.

I got everything connected, downloaded, etc. So....I then clicked on "Sleep Therapy Compliance Download" and could choose either a 'summary' or 'full details'.
Here's the info from the Summary Report, Feb. 10- Mar. 13th...

Average time in apnea per day (55.2sec.)
Average time in large leaks per day (11.6 sec)
Average AHI (3.1).
And then there is a cute graph of hours of usage at the bottom.

If I click on the 'full details' report, then I get all the graphs, which....ahem...I'm still a little confused about.
Here are the numbers:
Average Obstructive Apnea index: 1.0
Average hypopnea index: 2.1
Average AHI: 3.1
Average Vibratory Snore Index: 7.6
Avg. Max Leak: 47.9
Avg. 90% Leak: 26.8
Avg Leak: 23.8
Avg. Large Leak: 11.6 sec.

Um........I *think* I recall that avg AHI is the important number? And that number should be around....where, again? Is it ok to still have some apneas during sleep? 55.2 seconds- is that good or bad?

Sorry if these are silly questions.... Thanks for your patience and help!

Yes, AHI is the main thing to look at. Under 5.0 is supposed to be normal. Most of us strive to stay under 1.0. Some can do it some can't, just do the best you can.

The graphs are a real dud. Get James Skinners Pro Analyzer. It gives information that Encore Pro won't print out. It also converts the line graphs to a bar graph that is really nice to read. You can also manipulate the length of trends 1week, 1 month, 3 months, etc. More accurate also.

Hi Victoria. Looks like you have things off and running fine!!!! One of the important curves is the leak line. This has a comparison that I did that might be of interest: viewtopic/t39186/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33 ... 56#p282156

The average time in large leak should be worked on and reduced to zero. Always choose the "full details" and be sure you save the .pdf of all of these files. Once a week you may also want to do an export patient so you could recover from a data loss and store that file on a backup disk. Average AHI of 3.1 is quite good, but can be deceiving if the leaks are not under control and You are not mouth breathing at times during the night. This usually shows up as dry mouth or irregular leak line. Keep up the good work and post your results back here and you can continue to get comments on them. It will take a while to figure out how to post your graphs, but try to learn how as that lets more people help you.

Not hard to post graphs. Just save, generally in PDF format. Use one of the photo programs to convert it to JPEG format, resize to around 4"x6". Upload the JPEG file to one of the photo storeage sites like Photobucket (free) and copy the IMG file location to your message.
