My **Splendid** DME has done it again!

Post by ahujudybear » Thu Jun 30, 2005 1:26 pm

A few weeks ago, I accidentally pulled the wire slide thing out of one of its plastic guides on my FlexiFit 407 nasal mask, and could not get it back in. The DME office told me to bring it in (my RT was on vacation - of course.). They could not get it back together, so they gave me a new mask. They gave my old one to the sales rep - who promptly fixed it and gave it back to them. They said I could exchange it for the new one I was using - or at least that's what I thought they said.

Today my RT said I could come in and pick up the old mask and keep it for a spare!!!

So that solves TWO problems - which one to keep, and what to do about needing a mask 24/7 next week in the hospital: I'll have TWO of them!!

Yee-HAH!

Wow, your DME is great. Wish all were like that. Mine has been good but never given anything for free.

hmmmmmm,

is that what is to be expected? free supplies now because YOU broke something? did the DME receive a refund from the manufacturer of that mask YOU broke? Why do they have to be out of pocket? is it because they make so many trillions of dollars on the equipment?

your post, although i think is complimenting the way they resolved the problem for you ( and who the hell could complain about getting a free mask anyway? ) but you seem just a little put off and sarcastic that the rt was on vaction. How many vacation days do you get at your job? Would a customer hold it against YOU if they asked for you but you werent available because you actually took a vacation?

Yes. That is exactly why.

Is it possible we are hearing from a disgruntled DME/RT spewing vitriol under the anonymity of "Guest"? Unfortunately the effort to rally support backfires, further sullying his reputation. (A reputation which in some cases is quite obviously well-deserved.)

But then again,
Some people are just so demanding and impossible to please...

Whoa Nellie!!!

My post was intended as a Kudo to my DME ... not as a beginning of DME flames or a diatribe on vacations (I get none, BTW). I only mentioned it as an irony of life that something always seems to go wrong when the one person who can fix it is not available

Thats the way I took it too Judy, just dumb luck to have him on vacation when it broke. With so many negative comments on Dme's, I am always happy to see a positive post. You should mention their name for anyone who lives in the area.
