Hello all,
I was prescribed a pressure of 8, my DME set the machine to 8 and sent me on my way after the initial 30-40 minutes of explaining and paper signing.
my first night at 8 I had an AHI of 22+, so I set the machine to 8.4. My AHI went down to 8
now I'm up at a setting of 9, AHI was 7.4 after a decent nights sleep with only a few interruptions.
tonight I'll bump it to 9.4 and see how that goes.
Can I anticipate any probs with my Doc or DME by me messing with things? Or insurance? My DME seems cool, and is a CPAP'r himself.
Question on pressure setting
Re: Question on pressure setting
You are bumping your pressure too fast. You have no way of knowing the improvement is due to the pressure change or your acclimating to CPAP therapy. You also don't mention your Leak rate.
Make ONE change at a time and STAY at that change for a WEEK. Then use your weekly averages to determine what ONE change you might want to make for the next WEEK.

Re: Question on pressure setting
My leak rate is anywhere from 0 to .6,
wait a full week?
Should I leave it at 9 then and just see how it goes for ahwile or go back down to 8? I felt pretty comfortable at 9, I set my ramp to 5 mins and bumped up the starting ramp to 7 I think. I was feeling suffocating at too low of a ramp setting. Might just turn it off.
over all I really like the settings now, I was just hunting for a lower AHI.
Well I guess 7.4 AHI is a big improvement over 105+ at my sleep study

An Auto wouldn't do that......
They adjust pressures all night long.

Re: Question on pressure setting
If things feel comfortable now, stay at that setting for the week. Then see what the week's averages tell you. Just keep in mind that given you were titrated at 8 cms you might not necessarily NEED a higher pressure. OnNe step at a time one week at a time.
