I've got a problem and need some advice...
After 20 some odd years of dormancy, my asthma has come back this year with a passion. I keep it pretty well controlled, until I get a sinus infection. Once I have a sinus infection, I automatically get bronchitis, which sets off the asthma for the next few weeks. I have been going from one round to the other since I started CPAP.
I have taken great care to keep my filters, hose, and mask clean, but I seem to just have round after round of sinus problems. I have tried the Neti Pot, but every time I do it, I wind up hitting the inhalers because something about water up my nose trips the asthma. This same thing happened when I went swimming around Thanksgiving.
I was thinking that it might be a good idea for me to use one of these bacterial filters:

Any idea if this might help?

I am guessing you have allergies along with the Asthma but not bad allergies. You are also probably on a municipal water supply. When you get water out of your faucet can you smell chlorine? Have you ever been sensitive to chlorine? Many municipalities have high percentages of chlorine in their water. If you are near Chicago and have Chicago water from Lake Michigan, you have a high percentage of chlorine in your water.
I have allergies and I am very sensitive to chlorine and have reactions similar to what you describe only worst.

I do have allergies, but as you said, not bad ones. I've tried meds like Singulair & Advair, but I have severe side effects from them. In fact, I cannot use most medications for allergies because they cause my lungs to dry out too much and it triggers my asthma. The only thing that worked well for me was PPA, but they pulled it from the market a few years ago.
We're on a public water supply and they do chlorinate, but closely monitor it so they don't over chlorinate. They often just use a minimal because they have good clean wells. Besides, chlorine is a moot point because I used distilled water to do the neti pot thing after the first try and I still had problems.
