I awoke to find that all the lights of my machine were off and it has stopped working. At first I thought we had a power outage. When I saw that other electronic devices were working and that my clocks did not reset. I checked the power cord connection on the back of my machine. I unplugged the cord and felt the metal tip. It was very hot to the point of almost burning my fingers.
The machine did power up after a moment after I re-connected the power, but now I don't trust it. I'm wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone else and if the machine could have overheated and shut down because I have a terrible cold and I am very congested right now.
Thoughts?

My Remstar Pro with 12,712 hours did the motor lock message at 4 am about a month ago forcing me to dig a spare out of the basement and program it so I could sleep the rest of the night.
Being sick does not kill cpap machines after 4.5 years of experience. They like all electronics die sooner or later.
Look for error messages next time you try to run it but if it has been used for a while it needs to be tossed perhaps. If you bought it through a store check with them.

Apparently the problem is with the humidifier. I separated the CPAP machine from the humidifier and it works fine. Once I link it to the humidifier it turns on and then turns off.

That is good and makes sense about the getting hot. Actually when I got my chin strap and got it well adjusted my mouth and throat were no longer dried out the next AM so I just dropped the hassle especially due to travel with job.CMF wrote:Apparently the problem is with the humidifier. You may be down but not out out business. Maybe time to get a new machine and used it for a back up.
