I'm a little bit frustrated right now as you could probably tell from the subject. On my sleep study apnea showed as mild (my sleep stages were fairly normal except not getting into REM at all). I was always tired though and didn't have much energy. Would wake up in the morning just feeling like I simply wanted MORE sleep. Then by the time I got home from work I would be too tired to do much of anything but sit on the couch. I decided to try CPAP because I really got tired of being tired. The AHI from software now shows I'm down to 0.7 which is really good. So why do I still feel tired? For a while there when I was using it for only about 4 hours per night I did have more energy, but now that I am wearing it all night long I wake up and feel just as tired as before. Plus I almost feel like I have a hangover or something every morning (not that I've ever had one, but just that feeling of coming from a coma - stumbling out of bed, have a headache, etc...) I don't know what to do any more. Have been using the machine for about 2 weeks now all night. I don't know what to do. Every doctor I've been to has no clue and I'm about tired of trying to go to them for answers when they dont' have any answers. Should I keep trying the machine for a while and hope that everything straightens out? Should I try and see what else this could be (I don't even have a doctor to start with now though.) What's going on? Somebody please help me. I'm tired of this all.
Still Frustrated
HS - if you post your general location, perhaps someone would mention (in a PM?) the name of a competent sleep doc in your area.
Someone did for me and saved me from drowning in a sea of indifference and incompetence. (that's what it felt like for the 10 weeks before I even got a machine).
This board is really great and the people here have a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be of immense value BUT each of us is a unique individual (just like everybody else) and must find out what applies to ourself.
Yes, it's very frustrating not understanding what's happening and not knowing where to turn for help but here you're on the right track to make a good start toward the solution.
I'm sorry I have no suggestions (only been on CPAP for 13 nites), but you need to find a good doc. I drive over 40 miles one-way to get to the one recommended to me.
Hang in - we're with you

Hey His Serve,
Don't give up, you are just beginning. I was diagnosed with Moderate Sleep Apnea in May. It has been one hard road since I got my CPAP. I would take forever to get to sleep at night (never had that problem before CPAP). I would wake up in the middle of the night, mask on the floor, in my hand, everywhere except on my face. Alot of times I felt worse, than before. BUT IT DOES GET BETTER!!! Try to get some exercise, even walk around the neighborhhood (before you retreat to the COUCH). I could ramble on, but just remember, try to eat some healthy foods, get some exercise, and keep the faith, cause YOU WILL FEEL BETTER AND BE HAPPIER IN THE LONG RUN. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND KEEP THAT MASK ON HOSEHEAD!!!!
