There are several things that will get you auction booted. But eBay wants to stay in business and buying PayPal was smart since everyone was using it anyway.
Most "boots" are initiated by customers -- and often competitors. I had one of my auctions pulled because I linked to the home page of the company and they sold stuff. Links to stores are prohibited. My competitor had it shut down with 3 hours left in the auction.
Pictures are hard. A lot of pictures come from company websites. But if someone (again, usually a competitor) will tell eBay that the person is not an authorized dealer and therefore cannot use the pictures. Bam, the auction is pulled.
Then there is the medical issue. eBay is not a medical supply dealer like CPAP.com and will take any complaint to have the auction pulled. Yet, I buy all my diabetes supplies for my monitor on eBay for less than half the price of any Pharmacy.
The person holding the auction was probably was told why the auction was pulled and could relist -- but they DO NOT refund your listing money if the auction is pulled. Some sellers just figure it is not worth the effort.
