HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
How can you tell if a cpap machine is used or not. I think there is some way to check and see how many hours a machine has been used. I am looking at an Auto Remstar Respironics M Series with A Flex. I know how to change the settings, but don't know how to tell if it already has hours on it.
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
Hello, you should be able to unplug it then hold down the 2 arrow keys and plug back in. You should hear 2 beeps then you can read the settings and it will show total hours the blower has been on.

just page through with the arrows, it shows blower hours. I don't think you can reset that.
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
Depends upon the brand
For most Respironics machines there are 2 numbers that show up when powered on
1) Is blower hours
2) Is user hours (I can't recall which shows 1st but think it is current user hours)
For Resmed,
You need to go into the clinical menu & go to the last menu option (forgot its title) & in there
you get software level, serial# & blower hours.
It is the blower hours that tell you the time the machine has been active. User hours can nearly always be reset back to zero.
I have seen in the past, some sellers of used machines say a machine has low hours when in fact they were quoting the user
hrs for the current user & not the blower hours.
Good luck

Found it, Thanks all
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
I have the M-Series Auto with A-Flex. When I do a reset, both the user hours and blower hours on the user menu are reset. But if I go into the clinical menu there's a separate blower hours number listed that is not reset. Be sure & check it in the clinical menu.

To reset LCD Therapy data (does NOT erase any data from SmartCard):rrl_edm wrote:@danw61: How does one do a 'reset' on the M-Series Auto with A-Flex?danw61 wrote:I have the M-Series Auto with A-Flex. 1. Hold down the (<-) (->) buttons while plugging in the power on the back,
wait for 2 beeps or 5 seconds, release buttons.
2. Press the (->) key and navigate to Therapy screen. (There is a minus sign in the lower right corner)
3. Press and HOLD down the (-) minus key for 5 seconds and/or until therapy data is reset to Zero.
4. Press the On/Off button to exit.
This resets all info (ahi, leak, usage, blower hours, etc) back to 0 except the blower hours visible in the clinician menu.
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
I should explain, the Respironics machines don't have daily ahi, only 7 day average & 30 day average. Some people will reset the data each night and the 7 day average shown the next day will be the 1 nights data. But the smart card will still have the previous data. The smart card data is not lost during a reset.danw61 wrote:This resets all info (ahi, leak, usage, blower hours, etc) back to 0 except the blower hours visible in the clinician menu.
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
@danw61: Hey, thanks alot. I was unaware that after going into the Provider / Clinician's setup that I could reset the 7-day and 30-day averages from the Therapy Usage Screen. Very useful.
I also understand, and have since confirmed, that resetting the 'averages' DOES NOT reset the blower hours and/or SmartCard data. Of course, this is the expected / desired behaviour.

Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
@danw61: With regard to the "user menu", and just so I'm clear on this, I assume that you reference to "user hours" is referring to the 7-day / 30-day averages, AHI, leakage data, etc?danw61 wrote:I have the M-Series Auto with A-Flex. Also, on my M Series Auto with C-Flex I do not see "blower hours"; for that I have to drill down into the Provider / Clinician's menu. Perhaps the A-Flex models are different. Can you clarify.

Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
I just checked the user manuals on respironics.com "UserGuideMSeriesAuto.pdf" and "UserGuideMSeriesAutoAflex.pdf". It appears there is a difference in the Patient Data screens. I wasn't aware of that.rrl_edm wrote:@danw61: With regard to the "user menu", and just so I'm clear on this, I assume that you reference to "user hours" is referring to the 7-day / 30-day averages, AHI, leakage data, etc?danw61 wrote:I have the M-Series Auto with A-Flex. The A-Flex model has another screen labeled "Summary Data", that lists Therapy Hours, Blower Hours, and Total Sessions. These are the user hours & blower hours I was referring to. Apparently they aren't shown on the C-Flex model. When I reset the data, these values in the Patient Data Screens are reset with all the others. When I look on the clinical menu, I see this screen also with the zeroed numbers, however there is an additional screen with blower hours all by itself that is not reset. I'm at work & don't have the machine or clinical guide in front of me, so I don't remember the exact labels in the clinical menu, setup menu, whatever it's called.
The reason I mentioned it at all, is so that anyone looking to purchase an M-Series Auto w/ A-Flex will know to check the right Blower Hours in the clinical menu not the Blower Hours on the Patient Data screens because that one can be zeroed out.
Re: HOW TO TELL HOURS OF USE OF CPAP MACHINE??
Thanks for setting the record straight. It all makes sense now.
