What a difference in DME attitudes

Post by The Texan » Tue Feb 24, 2009 3:10 pm

Yesterday I posted about the surly attitude the tech had at Walgreen Options and I went looking elsewhere. Today I walked into a smaller local DME and sat down with the 2 RT's that work there and explained what I wanted and expected from the DME. The 1st words out of their mouth was, your health is the most important thing to us and without you the customer, we would not be in business. When I explained to them that we traveled and lived full time in an RV, so I was basing my request for certain equipment on that and the advice I had received from this forum, they said what do you want. I gave them my wish list for machine and mask, no second thoughts or anything, it is on order and will be here in 2 days. I asked about how I would get my supplies in 3 and 6 month time frames and their reply was you call us and we put it in the mail today to wherever you say to ship to. So as of now, I have a M series auto w/ a-flex and heated humidifier, plus a comfort gel nasal mask arriving this week. I just couldn't believe how nice and caring these people were. Will keep the group updated on how it goes. Thanks for all the help you have provided.
Bob

Good for you! I am glad you found someone that is working for you! Is this covered by insurance?

Bob,

Are these nice folks in the Ocala/Inverness, Florida area (you had also asked for referrals there)? If so, I am glad you found a good experience without having to deal with mindless trolls. Regardless of where they are, it might be a good thing (thank you, Martha Stewart, for that phrase) to post more specific company information for the benefit of others in that area.
If you are now in the Ocala area, I hope you like horses - you'll find a lot of them around.

Actually, I own a mini-farm about 20 miles SW of Ocala and 5 miles NW of Inverness. As you said, the neighborhood is nothing but horses and RVs, as there is no HOA to dictate the do's and don'ts.

The company I'm talking about is Community Oxygen & Medical, in Inverness. The techs are Jeanette and Trey and the company moto is "customer service and higher standards". I'll keep you posted on how things proceed.

Jim, not sure about anyone in Ocala, but I know there is a good one on Starke....good friend of mine has her DME there...the DME told her what to have the doctor prescribe, including an AutoPap.
