You need to go into your profile and fill it out in TEXT, not ICONNY form. Maybe add in the comments section how it's set up Auto ranges, ect. Then we can better answer your questions, also it's better to post with the CAPS key turned off. If you don't need O2 during the day you probably don't need it at night. A Pulse OX test over night would tell if you did a Doctor could set that up.

You need the Software and card reader to get the data, to better check on your treatment. If you use a nasal mask you may be loosing your treatment out of your mouth, when you get the profile filled in we can tell the equipment you use Jim

To list your equipment in your profile, click on User Control Panel just below the search bar at the top of this site.

Then, click the Profile tab and select Edit Equipment on the left.

Talk to your doc and/or DME... ask for a pulse ox loaner. Sometimes you'll have to have a script, and sometimes you won't.

How we doing today? I have a few question for you. How long have you been on your CPAP? Do you keep it on all night? Do you use it every night? That aside if you haven't been on for long, but have been on if for a few months, wear all night and every night and fell rested throughout the day. You might just be working off your sleep debt. Here's a Scientific American articles about Sleep Debt,

Can You Catch Up on Lost Sleep?
You've given up your fair share of sleep—will you ever feel rested again?
By Molly Webster

"Let's do some sleep math. You lost two hours of sleep every night last week because of a big project due on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, you slept in, getting four extra hours. Come Monday morning, you were feeling so bright-eyed, you only had one cup of coffee, instead of your usual two. But don't be duped by your apparent vim and vigor: You're still carrying around a heavy load of sleepiness, or what experts call "sleep debt"—in this case something like..."

and another on National Geographic News

Or if its not everyday then you might be experiencing REM rebound I'll see if I can post an article or tow when I have more time. I'm not a doctor nor do I pretend to be on on TV. So, if you feel like its is something more you should call and make an appointment with your primary care. Its probably a good idea just to let him or her know. I guess the point I'm trying to get at is don't freak out to badly. Do you know what your lowest SPO2 desat during your study? 88% or 60%, lower of higher? Let your primary care know how you feel; and if you must do self diagnose and treat be careful and do your own research thoroughly.

thanks for the link to the sleep debt article, i know i feel better since starting Vpap but i definately still feel like it takes a while to get up and get going in the morning- i have been wondering how much is MS fatigue and how much is sleep debt- even if i can only repay some of the sleep debt accrued it should make a difference- something to look forward to- i am getting really fond of my bedside buddy!

Thanks for the sciam article, "That Sleep Tech"!

ajverm the issue boils down to a number of points:
Immediate:
  1. Your oxygen level: Your doc. can instruct your DME to loan a pulse oxygen meter for a night's test - as far as I know, that's supposed to be for free.
  2. The number of hours you use the machine: you're supposed to use it every time you sleep, all the time, including naps.
  3. The total hours of sleep you get at night
  4. The time it will take your body to heal from years of badly disrupted sleep - read that Scientific American link TST provided.
  5. Whether or not you're mouth leaking (do you have a very dry mouth?) Mouth leaking defeats therapy: - it may totally skew the AHI -- and therapy doesn't take place during that time.
Long Term
  • You can get the software and hardware needed to monitor your therapy on your own - https://www.cpap.com is a good source, and if you find a cheaper one onlin, cpap.com will price match.
You can find many tips on optimizing therapy on this forum
Registering is not mandatory, but if you do, and put all data in your profile, it will be easier for everyone to help you.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
O.
