New user -Encore software + data loss

Post by angel1 » Mon Feb 23, 2009 4:13 pm

I have been using my REMstar Auto M series with A-Flex for two weeks with OPus pillow mask. After reading a lots of posting, I have decided to buy the Encore software and reader. When I talked with my DME respiratory therapist, she had no idea that I can buy the software. her main concern was that when they read the data card, it erases the info from the card. so she does not want me to buy the software. She needs to have the data to show insurance company about my usage. Does downloading my card data automatically erases the data from the card ?

She has set up my machine at CPAP Pressure at 8.0 cm H2O. I asked her about setting for auto adjusting pressure, since the machine is capable to do it. She can not do it without the doctor's order. Is it ok for me to leave at a fixed pressure ? Would I benefit from auto adjusting pressure ? My last seven days data from small LCD display on the machine shows:

APN-HYP Index : AHI = 4.5

System leak : L/Min = 29.2

I am learning a lot from this site. I really appreciate your help.

Downloading does not erase the card. Get familiar with the data from the card and then ask again about changing your pressure. I have used the Auto on Auto and it does not help my numbers or my sleep. I do best with one pressure. Don't fuss with it until you have some data to look at in terms of leaks, AI vs HI. etc.

I do NOT have Encore Viewer but understand that it does NOT erase data from the card, even if you wanted to.

I DO have Encore Pro and the default setup (for DME's) does erase the data at each download, without even asking. However, under preferences you can mark a checkbox to be prompted to keep data on the card AFTER download.
