EncorePro updates

Post by rilogic » Mon Feb 16, 2009 10:03 am

Hello Forum! I'm a new guy to the Forum, but and old guy to CPAP. I started using CPAP in 1989. It definitely saved my life. I have severe Apnea so I never sleep without my CPAP machine. I have watched the knowledge on sleep apnea and CPAP grow tremendously since 1989. I was supported by Walter Reed Army Hospital until 1997 when I retired, and experienced the military's knowledge of sleep apnea and CPAP grow first hand. However, of late I have noticed (at least in FL) a lot of treatment clinics opening up claiming to be "THE" expert in diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. However, in a search for a dependable, Knowledgeable, and technology smart doctor for my continuing care, I have found that most of these clinics only know how to do an over night study with a barely trained staff. Most of the Doctors have no depth of knowledge in sleep apnea and usually jump to conclusion without considering all the evidence available from testing. So be careful when selecting your doctor, and learn as much as you can about your disorder.

Which brings me to the subject of this post. I purchased a copy of encorepro version 1.3.17 several years ago and have never been able to get it to work. I finally figured out why this weekend. The version I have only supports a serial card reader, even though it list usb etc. When you go to preferences, it won't let you select USB reader. I am hoping someone out there has an upgrade to the software they are willing to share. I legally own Version 1.3.17, and should have received several upgrades to the software, however, we all know how well the company has supported the non-professional user. So if any one can help or point me somewhere to get help I would greatly appreciate it.

I also am starting a project to automate the collection and storage of all my medical information, such as BP, Glucose level, Oximeter info etc. if any one is interested in doing the same let me know.

Respirionics does not support Encore Pro to end users, only to DME's and Doctors. In fact they no longer even sell Encore Pro to us any more. You can buy a stripped down version called Encore Viewer but it does not use the SQL data base so Pro Analyser does not work with it.

I know nothing about the older versions of Encore but I gotta ask - are you sure your computer has USB ports?

A 2nd thought is simply getting a serial card reader.

Of course the if you have a newer machine your version will not work anyway. So what is the make & model of the machine?

Let's see - I bought my copy of Encore Pro in Nov 2005. It was version 1.4. Shortly there after 1.5 became available for the Auto Bipap. With the M series came 1.6.

1.3 is for the "tanks" (legacy) series except for Auto Bipaps i assume.

Your copy is OLD. You have over 3 years of no data and now want data?

I don't even know if your version would work with XP. It sure wouldn't work with Vista.

Personally, I think you need to install the drivers for the card reader.

In many instances, the drivers will use USB and install a virtual serial port. The software will then find the "serial" port it is looking for.

I have the drivers loaded, and when I first loaded Encore Pro it wouldn't download the card until I finally found the settings and checked USB vs Serial...
