Up until I began my RT using my CPAP beginning on 1/2/09 my morning blood pressure was as high first thing in the morning as it was throughout the day. My BP had been recorded on average of 160/110. No medication. So, I thought I would check it this morning after being on RT for over a month now. New BP reading was 120/76. It was at 125/80 during the day during my active time at work. So I am very happy with these results. My readings have been consistently good and are typical daily:
AHI: 1.3
HI: !.3
AI: 0.0
Leaks 0.0
Median pressure 11.2
I absolutely love the ResMed S8 AutoSet II/Mirage Activia nasal mask as I can turn from side to side without any discomfort or leaks. Most positions I don't even feel the mask at all.
My energy level has been through the roof. I no longer load up on coffee in the morning and very seldom take a short nap on the weekends.
My weight is dropping as well. Whether I can ever get off the machine with my weight loss or not I have been fortunate to get such a good set up with my machine and my sleep center has been great to work with. The DME gave me a card so all i have to do if I want a printout is get the data download from my machine and when I take my card to them they will read it and give me a full printout at no cost. I do check it daily myself just to see what my pressure was max'ed at and the leak rate.
At 56 my only two regrets was (1) gaining all the weight I have and (2) ignoring the apnea symptoms a year or 2 earlier.

Congrats on getting the BP down, and keep checking it. Where it was is scary...

No doubt. If the RT did not help I was going to get some medicated help. I am monitoring it and it appears the RT is really helping. Thanks for the concern.SharkBait wrote:Congrats on getting the BP down, and keep checking it. Where it was is scary...
