1. Do any of these work well with masks like the Hybrid where the hose comes down from the mask rather than up? (The Hybrid vents are right above where the hose connects, so running the hose up over your head instead of down makes for very loud venting.) The picture and wording for the CozyHoze Boss appear (to me) to show it works best when the hose is going up over your head.

Thanks!

Pam
The Answer to #1 is YES --- I used the Hibrid mask with the hose over my head and 2 oz. weight added to compensate for the Aussie hose......... Had a little more sag but the COZYHOZE BOSS did their job and worked as advertized!
Hope that's helpful?

BERT

Yes, very helpful!! Thank you, Bert.

Pam,

How do you now manage your hose with the Hybrid mask?

I let mine enter under the covers at navel level, run over to the navel, and then up to the mask. I can roll to either side or back without problems. This has the added advantage of heating the hose by body heat and I have never had rainout problem in my cold and heatless bedroom.

Placing the hose overhead seems like a big distraction to sleep.

Rooster

Testers results:
First THANKS for picking me to TEST your hoseboss, I'm a lab rat that always has to remodel anything I get to make it live in my world. Started CPAP on 2006 Aug. and have MORE than a closet FULL of unused JUNQUE..... .I have made a couple plastic pipe hose stands without being happy with there results and ease of use while traveling.

I used your two point setup in my first night in the train going to the lab in Canada. Had some problems with adhesion and location. at this point I suggest you include alcohol swabs w/Command strips. More explanation latter.

TEST results on equipment:
-------- Ea. reel has 2 1/8 oz. pull -- two units with 6 in. spread @ pull point 5 1/8 oz.
-------- Hose dead weight 4 5/8 oz. with cover 6 1/8 oz.
-------- Commands strip 17024 "poster strips" -- Pull @ 45 degree down 9 1/2 lb.
-------- Command strip Decorating Clips -- @ 45 degree pull 5 lb. on metal plate.
---------------- "Not a full 1 hr. wait as package recommends"
-------- Pressure to break mask seal == My nasal pillow AeioMed twilight ... 4 oz.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My Comfortlite II nasal pillow ... 6 1/2 oz.
" I think its all due to head gear."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - John's FlexiFit "431" .... 4 1/4 oz. & 8 3/4 oz. "Different head gear"

The test were done with the lowest dislodging head gear on John & both mask of mine.
I sleep in a hotel and John in a room at the lab.
We had a constant monitor on pressures exerted over the sleep times. the monitors were a small scale with a cylinder printout on pressures on a paper cylinder < Sorry the picture chip was lost on the train so many pictures are missing>.

Total time spent testing in the hotel was 2 1/2 hrs. before sleep testing -- moving the Command strips and checking tensions. Here is where I'll input the need for "ALCOHOL Wipes" the headboard was screwed to the wall -BUT- was cleaned with some kind of furniture polish / wax that gave the Command strips a loose bond! So following cleaning mounting place as in direction is important. We also had problems with some mounts on the wall paper at the lab dirt/smoke or type of paper.

BEST LOCATION on mounting the Command strip was 25"-28" about 4"-6" off center of the pillow to the center of the bed. A "SINGLE" Point with a 6" spread of the Velcro strips on the hose spaced about a hand with apart gave the best over all tension. The 28" up the wall gave both John & I about 38" freedom an the ability to position and arrange the mask & Equipment while seating on the side of the bed. This was GREAT for both of us -- I use the PAP-Cap & John tied on the pantyhose type strap. < NOT used while TESTING Pressure to break mask seal ????>

The Hose had the Velcro attached 22"-24" above the pillow height. My Aeiomed mask has a tail hose that has about a foot extended from the head attachment that had to be included.
The other mask all were measured from center of the head pivot point .. The Comfort II has been remodeled to remove the stupid swivel the manufacture installed.
We even tried gluing the two units together but lost on overall tension on the hose.
Putting a cross bar between the two Velcro strips and a center pull with both units also failed in being compatible with the total function of the hose handling.

OVER ALL RECOMMENDATIONS.
It's a GREAT Product and USEFUL @ home and Travel It would be nice to have a small pouch to store the two units in the travel case with all the other equipment to prevent tangling of cords, Along with a place to store the Command strips along with 12 alcohol wipes. The need for a stress on proper use of command strip mounting will eliminate any suppresses in the middle of the night & must be stressed on the instruction card. The one hour wait before using the strips DID NOT seem to get involved as the pull was so much LESS than company weight limits.

The Price range seems reasonable & cost of supplies / replacement Command strips was $2.29 for twelve strips...... JUST REMEMBER I'm a Cheep OldFart! and a due-it-yourself person.
As we mentioned earlier the color should stay WHITE -- its the most compatible with other colors and stands out when packing up! The addition of LOGO's and a card with DIRECTIONS for use and setup. NOT sure if a pouch should be flexible or firm, lean to soft?

The train crew was IMPRESSED with the units and flexibility of setup - they switch trains every 3-4 days and a few were CPAP users or knew somebody that was. I was in the handicap roomette but we tried the normal roomette and full room, Even usable in Coach if you can sleep seating up?
Any OTHER questions on things I failed to mention will be welcomed.

Regards,
I have the Aussie heated hose, then 2 feet of covered regular hose between the heated hose and the mask (I needed more than 6 feet because the machine is not right next to the bed). Currently, it runs from the shelf on the other side of the nightstand, behind the nightstand, through a little velcro loop on my headboard, and then down beside my pillow and comes on top of blankets a little above my waist. (The nightstand is too high for the machine to be below the top of the mattress, so I had to come up with somewhere else to put it that was lower, without resorting to floor.) I messed with it today, fixing it so it would run overhead, and for me, it caused even more leaks in the chin area, and it was too noisy that way (I'm not sensitive to blue lights when I'm trying to sleep, but I am sensitive to noise ).

I was toying with the idea of an overhead setup because quite often when I bend my head certain ways, it pushes the hose into my chest, which pushes on the mask, causing the mask to leak some in the bottom part of the mask. Changing positions isn't really an issue, just the leak thing, and it's really not that big a deal. (I just sleep weird, that's all. ) I actually tried a small oral cushion today, and think that MIGHT actually work better than the medium I've been using. I'll see tonight!

Pam
