I would like to buy a used auto cpap.
Hi everyone, I was recently diagnosed with severe OSA. This wasn't really a suprise as I have known about my loud snoring and frightening breathing patterns from sleepng partners. In the last year or so I have been having more difficulty staying awake at times in addition to having problems with depression and low energy. I have heard some miraculous stories from people whose lives have been changed with successful treatment and I'm anxiously looking forward to starting my treatment w/ cpap. My insurance is Kaiser and even though they paid for a take home sleep study, they won't cover the treatment. As most of you would surely agree, it would be in everyone's best interest if they did provide coverage. I would love to take up the fight but don,t know if I have the energy at this time.
Anyway, This is a great forum and a much needed resource. Thanks to all.

I have seen used equipment at some of the cpap suppliers internet websites. You can get several different apap machines through cpap.com for less than $600, so I would strongly suggest that you buy a new machine from them. One more thing, for orders over $100, ups shipping is free. My order was delivered in four days You will have to either fax or email them your cpap prescription.

I shouldn't pass this on as I'm winning and I'm the only one who's entered the competition. But if you follow the link below to another CPAP forum site you can enter a competition to win a Resmed autoset spirit which is a very good APAP machine -> I'm shooting myself in the foot for telling you, but hey - second prise is $100 off a resmed mask, and as no one else has entered, there is a reasonable chance we could win something!!!
PS keep it a secret, I don't want everyone else to know!!!

What a used auto-pap goes for I believe, I would just buy a new one. Every one I seen was over 500.00. I guess the reason they go for so much is because you do not need a prescription most of time.Go to your primary doctor and tell him/her you are using CPAP and you want to buy another one for when you travel.....

Firstly a big welcome - Your description sounds like a classic case of OSA debilitation. Assuming it is exactly that, you are on the right track in coming here.
Also the advice from other posters here, that you should think of a new unit is very sound. cpap.com will deliver you a new auto for just a small amount more (and often less) than a lot of autos seem to go for at online auctions.
Considering it is your health & happiness and the marriage is more or less forever, choose your machine wisely. A new machine warranty is not to be passed over.
Cheers & good luck

Definition of a secret (I read this once in the Reader's Digest and never forgot it) :This is supposed to be a secret isn't it?
A secret is something you tell only one person at a time.

There is also an organization called I think (I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong) Sleep in America, which gives away free or greatly reduced CPAPs, masks, etc. All machines and masks have been refurbished, sterilized.
Of course some of these machines are very old and technology has changed or some might be relatively new and submitted by people who had one of the surgeries and think they are cured (little do they know). But it might be something you want to check out if you can't afford to buy one online.
Masks online run from under $100 to about $140. I think I've even seen some at $49 (but not a very well-liked mask, although used at a lot of Sleep Labs
