I going to see my DME to download my Smart Card for the first 30 days. I have the ResMed VPAP Auto 25. Are there any questions I need to ask? I am swallowing quite a bit of air during the night. Easy Breathe has not been activated, I am thinking of having that turned on. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Setting now is 14/100.
Thanks,
Gary

Re: DME visit
Sorry I know nothing about your generator. However, you apparently picked the correct nickname/username if you are swallowing a lot of air. If your generator is really set to deliver from 14 to 100 cm H2O, it is no wonder you are swallowing air but then again I know nothing about VPAP machines. I use my easy breathe and find it helpful on my ResMed S8 AutoSet II. It is easy to turn in on yourself and to select the settings you want to try. I suggest a setting of 2 (that reduces the pressure on exhale by 2 cm H2O and set inhale on "fast" so you do not feel you are gasping for air. Try different settings to see what works best for your comfort and treatment. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply and advice Kengesq!!

I have the Resmed VPAP Auto. By all means tell your DME's RT about the aerophagia (air swallowing) you are experiencing. I take it that was a typo and your pressures are IPAP 14 and EPAP 10.
The sad part is that our VPAP Autos are so new on the market (my VPAP Auto in January 2008 and yoru VPAP Auto 25 just six months later in July 2008) that the majority of these RTs haven't got the foggiest idea of the various "comfort opitons" these new VPAPs offer - and too many are too darn lazy to read the Clinicians Manual to find out, they just use the Quick SetUp Guid to set them into Auto mode and your IPAP and EPAP pressures and select Default for all the rest.
Don't be too quick to play w/your pressure settings or "comfort options". Get a copy of the Clinicians Manual and study it. Get the ResScan 3.7 software and the cable reader and as you educate yourself, if your DME's RT can't make the proper adjustments, THEN start experimenting. ONE change at a time for ONE WEEK at a time.

I also have the VPAP Auto 25. Apparently it's a very new machine. I feel fortunate to have it.
The highest pressure on the Auto 25 is 25, so I don't know where you're getting the 100 from. I'm trying to understand the MANY settings available on this machine and what settings will give me the best therapy (since my ENT and DME seem to be clueless). As I just posted in another thread, I'm likely going to change docs (from an ENT to a Pulmonologist). I hope he's more familiar with the settings and I feel fairly certain that if he isn't, he will learn. That's just the type of Doc he is. Search my threads (the more recent ones) as I've received some very good advice about settings on the VPAP.

Re: DME visit
Sorry folks, that was a typo; EPAP 14 (Just reduced to 13 today) IPAP 10. You all are right about the clueless thing. I did not get much help. As soon as I reach deductible I am going to ask my doc to write a prescription or recommend the reader for the ResScan data card and software. I'll take all of your advice on tweaking the settings as I get more comfortable. I'll definitely look at the previous posts. Please post any new things you learn about this machine. I do like it, just want to be sure I am getting the most out of it. Thanks so much Slinky and Bluebonnet_Gal Good luck to both of you.
